TECHNOLOGY YEAR OBJECTIVES

I wanted to say welcome back to School. I am looking forward to another great year at LCA. I know we will have wonderful time learning about computers.

For the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade please review the note below about the policies regarding the internet tools we will be using in class this year.

Kindergarten –

We will be working on learning the keyboard  using Notepad. Learn about View, Format, Edit options using Notepad. Learn about MS Paint.  We will also be working with the Reader Rabitt software to impove their computer skills.

1st Grade –

Learn the menu for Notepad and emphasize how to copy and paste using Notepad. We will work on our typing skills using the Type to learn software. Work with Jump Start  First grade software. Learn about MS Paint menu  Colors, Image, View.

2nd Grade –

Learn the menu for WordPad and emphasize how to copy and paste using WordPad. Work with Jump Start second grade software. We will work on our typing skills using the Type to learn software.

3rd Grade –

Learn the menu for Microsoft Word and emphasize how to copy and paste using Microsoft Word. We will work on our typing skills using the Type to learn software. Work with Jump Start third grade.

4th Grade –

Continue with Microsoft Word and Start to learn Microsoft Power Point. We will work on our typing skills using the Type to learn software.

5th Grade –

Continue with Microsoft Power Point and start to learn Microsoft Excel.  We will learn the concepts of the Internet and how to use it.   We will introduce the Microsoft Publisher tool.  We will work on our typing skills using the Type to learn software.

6^th Grade

Continue with the different Microsoft Tools and start to learn the Microsoft Publisher software.   Each teacher will specify the projects the students will work on during computer class. We will be creating the project using various Microsoft products.   Each student will be creating a website using WIX and coffee cup tool sets.

7^th and 8th Grade

This year the 7th grade will be doing numerous projects using the Microsoft family of tools. Each teacher will specify the projects the students will work on during computer class. We will be creating the project using various Microsoft products.   Each student will be creating a website using WIX and coffee cup tool sets.

NOTE: About the use of the internet tools in 6^th, 7^th and 8^th Grade.

This year the students will be learning how to create Web Pages.  We will be using the Wix and Coffecup tools sets.    The reason that we selected these tools is because they are an easy and a friendly way for the students to start learning about the parts of the internet and how to create a web site.   But for security and safety reasons the following will be in effect for all students:

The students will not be allowed to put any personal information on the pages and they are not going to be allowed PUBLISH his/her work, we will only be previewing the pages.    We will be letting the students know at the beginning of classes that they are not allowed to publish their pages or put any personnel information.   I will be checking the pages each day and if they publish the page or put any personnel information on the page the following will occur:

1.      The page will be erased from the tool.

2.      They will automatically received a 30 point deduction of their grade

3.      They will have to start the project over again and finish with the existing timeframes.
