Welcome to Mrs. Compton's Fifth Grade Class!  Dear Parents and Students, We are having a fantastic year so far. I am so proud of all my students! I am the reading teacher for 5th Grade at Enochville and love what I do. Please see below the weekly events that take place in our classroom. Parent News April 26 PTA @ 6:30 Relay for Life Movie Night- April 27 May 4- Early Release Day  Reading News Students will work in small collaborate groups this week. Students will review for the EOG Group 1- Students will practice EOG Vocabulary with a matching game. Group 2- Students will practice cause and effect relationships using multiple activities. Group 3- Students will go to BrainPop and practice main idea activities. Group 4- Students will practice inferencing skills using multiple activities. Spelling News Students will continue to complete weekly spelling contracts. Students must have a total amount of 6 points each week. Contracts should be located in their binders. Students must use all ten of their spelling words. Spelling words for this week are: propose, convince, concern, enforce, compare, excuse, conduct, preserve, contain, excite Language Arts Students will use and identify idioms in multiple activities. Students will correct D.O.L. daily. Social Studies Students will explore economic resources found in the United States and neighboring countries. Students will also discuss surplus and scarcity in the American market and explain the economic effects..  Class Schedule 7:30-8:10 Arrival, Breakfast,Morning work, Silent Reading, Morning Announcements 8:15-9:15 Reading Block 1 9:20-10:25 Reading Block 2 10:30-11:25 Reading Block 3 11:30-12:15 Social Studies 12:20-12:50 Lunch 12:55-1:10 Read Aloud/Pack Up 1:10-1:35 Recess 1:40-2:20 Enhancements Monday-Guidance Tuesday- Art Wednesday- Music Thursday- P.E. 2:25-2:30 Announcements/Dismissal  Remember to read 30 minutes each night and have parents sign reading logs and punch cards with their initials.
