Honors Algebra I
Supplies: 1 inch binder College-ruled paper Graph paper Calculator Ruler Pencils Good Eraser Colored Pencils Homework: Homework assignments will be given three to four times each week. For an assignment to be complete, the student must write down each question, show all work involved in solving the question, have an answer, and make corrections if necessary. All assignments must be labeled with the page number and problem numbers. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about their assignments during class so that they are able to make corrections. Homework checks will be given every Thursday. Five randomly assigned problems from the previous week’s homework will be chosen and the student will copy their work directly from their notebook. These problems will be graded on accuracy and completeness. Partial credit will be given if there is correct work, but an incorrect answer. Tutoring: I am here every morning at 7:20am. If your child needs extra help, they need to see me the day before to get a pass to come to my classroom before school. I am also available Fridays from 3:05 – 4:30. Make- Up: If your child is absent, it is their responsibility to find out what they missed and make up their missed assignments. They can come before school and copy the notes from my notebook or get the notes from a classmate. They may also check their answers to any homework assignments and get help with corrections. Another way to find out what they missed is to check my website. There is also a calendar posted in my room with the assignments for each day. Tests and Quizzes: Tests are given every week or week and a half. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced. Material on tests and quizzes will cover material currently being studied and might also have material that has previously been studied throughout the year. Grade: Tests: 50%
