2/10/12- Today we did a lot of warm-ups!  We did three listening activities, reviewed the future tense, and did several oral activities.  We finished the Conversations Libres.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

2/9/12- Today we presented the Conversations Libres and took notes on the future tense and its irregulars (p. 201 text).  We did an oral activity.  Homework- workbook p. 57

2/8/12- Today we went over yesterday's quiz.  We read p. 194-195 (text).  We went over the new travel vocabulary (p. 196-198).  We did an oral activity and began working on the Conversations Libres p. 200.  Homework- Continue working on the Conversations (5 lines for each person, use as much vocab as possible)

2/7/12- Today we took the quiz on Unité 5 Partie 1.  There is no homework!  :)

2/6/12- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz by doing the review packet together in class.  Make sure that you know your vocab, the affirmative and negative expressions (be certain that you know which ones go together), and the prepositions for the countries, cities and continents.  You will only be using the ones that mean to or at, NOT of or from.  Homework- Study for the quiz.

2/3/12- Today we did white board activities with our negative and affirmative expressions, as well as some of the prepositions with countries, continents and cities.  There is no homework!  Bon week-end!  :)

2/2/12- Today we practiced with our negative expressions and vocabulary by doing several oral activities and two listening activities.  Homework- the back of the worksheet on prepositions with cities, countries and continents (p. 82)

1/31/12- Today we did a listening activity and took HUGE notes on negative and affirmative expressions (p. 192 text, however not all of them are there).  Homework- workbook p. 55

1/30/12- Today we read and discussed p. 187-189 (text).  We looked at the new vocabulary on p. 190 & 191.  We took notes on the usage of prepositions with cities, countries and continents.   Homework- the front of the worksheet (p.81)

1/27/12-  Today we finished reading (and listening to) the Interlude Culturel.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

1/13/12- Today we went over the quiz and reviewed our hairdressing vocabulary with oral questions and by drawing the different hair styles that you wrote about in your homework.  There is no homework.  Bon long week-end!  :)

1/12/12- Today we took the quiz on Unité 4 Partie 1.  We looked at the new hairdressing vocabulary on p. 160-161 and did an oral activity.  Homework- Become the visagiste (hairstylist who uses the shape of the person's face to determine his hairstyle) for one of the people on p. 40-41.  You must write three sentences and use as much vocabulary as you can.

1/11/12- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz by doing several listening activities and part of the review packet.  Half of the points on the quiz will be on the vocabulary (mostly matching French to English) and the other half will be on using y or en (with and without expressions of quantity) in all possible configurations (present tense, passé composé, conjugated verb with infinitives, affirmative and negative commands.  Homework- study for the quiz

1/10/12- Today we took massive notes on expressions of quantity.  Homework- workbook p. 47 & 48 (Act. B et C)

1/9/12- Today we took notes on the pronouns y and en (p. 156 text).  We did some oral activities.  Homework- workbook p.45 & 46

1/4/12- Bonne Année!  Today we read p. 149-151 (text). We studied the new vocabulary on p. 152-153.  We did a couple of oral activities and worked on your Conversations Libres on p. 155 (5 lines per person; at least 6 different vocab words).  Homework- the Conversations Libres

12/13/11- Today we took a practice test and played Pictionary to review vocab.  Tomorrow, I will be collecting your logs and extra credit passes.  We will be taking the practice final.  Homework- Continue studying for the final.

12/12/11- Today we used the white boards to review verb tenses.  Homework- Start studying for the final.

11/17/11- Today we went over yesterday's quiz.  We worked on the passé composé and imparfait "envelope" sentences.  There is no homework.

11/16/11- Today we took the quiz on Unité 3 Partie 1.  We read about Jacques Cousteau.  There is no homework.

11/15/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz by doing the review packet.  There are 6 sections on the quiz.  The first three are on the vocabulary (matching and multiple choice in paragraphs) and the final three are on the verbs.  There is one section of just passé composé (be prepared for all types (avoir, être, reflexives, irregular past participles, déjà, negatives, etc.)).  The next section is all imparfait (remember all of the irregular nous forms we've studied).  In the last section, you will have to determine the appropriate tense and conjugate the verb accordingly.   Homework- Study for the quiz!

11/14/11- Today we took notes on habitual actions vs. specific actions and continuous actions vs. completed actions.  We did some oral activities.  We started working on group paragraphs.  Homework- workbook p. 38

11/10/11- Today we reviewed the imparfait by doing several oral activities.  We did a vocabulary worksheet to review the vocabulary, as well.  There is no homework.  Bon long week-end!  :)

11/3/11- Today we read p. 109-11 in the text.  We went over the new vocabulary for Unité 3 Partie 1 p. 112.  We did an oral activity and worked on the Conversations Libres on p. 113 (20 lines and at least 10 different vocabulary words).  Homework- finish the Conversations Libres and be ready to present them tomorrow.

11/2/11- Today we finished the Interlude Culturel and chose our word and fact for National French Week.  There is no homework.

11/1/11- Today we went over the answers to the tombstone questions and began reading the Interlude Culturel p. 98-107.  There is no homework!

10/31/11- Today we went fact hunting in our Cimitière Père LaChaise à la Horizon.  There is no homework.  Joyeux Halloween!  :)

10/28/11- Today we went over yesterday's test.  We read and discussed La Couverture (p. 92-95 text) all in French. There is no homework. Don't forget to bring your flashlights for Monday!  Bon weekend!  ;)

10/27/11- Today we took the test on Unité 3.  There is no homework.  :)

10/26/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's test by doing the review packet and watching the video.  On the test there are two listening sections:  one on the service vocabulary and one on the descriptive vocabulary.  There is a matching section in which you must match opposite descriptive words, and one in which you must match an object to what it is made of (pneu=tire; bâtiment=building). There is a little dialogue in which you must fill in the missing service vocabulary words from a word bank.  There is a section in which you must choose the correct form from an indicative and two subjunctive forms.  There is a section in which you must simply conjugate ten verbs in the subjunctive (only one of them is completely regular!).  There is a section with a verb bank in which you will be given an impersonal expression and you must complete the sentence using the subjunctive and a verb from the verb bank.  In the final section, you must write complete sentences using verbs of desire and the subjunctive.  (Ex.  You see
écrire les exercices; you would write Je veux que vous écriviez les exercices.)  Homework- Study for the test!!

10/25/11- Today we did a lot of practice with our new descriptive vocabulary.  We did a partner activity and three listening activities.
Homework- prepare your two questions for the tombstone activity on a 3X5 card.  Remember the answer to the questions must be your person's name.

10/24/11- Today we did two listening activities.  We learned the new vocabulary for describing objects (p. 90 text).  We did two oral activities and one worksheet.  Homework- workbook p. 33 (bottom)

10/21/11- Today we talked about our tombstone projects and everyone selected his historical figure.  We played Pictionary with a grammar twist.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)


10/20/11- Today we did a listening activity and took notes on the subjunctive with impersonal expressions and opinion.  We did an oral activity.  Homework- workbook p. 31 (B)

10/19/11- Today we took notes on using the subjunctive with verbs of desire.  We did a lot of oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 32-33 (C & C)

10/18/11- Today we presented the chore dialogues.  We took notes on the irregular subjunctive forms of aller, avoir, être and faire (p.86 text).  We did a listening activity.  Homework- workbook p. 31 (A)

10/17/11- Today we reviewed the vocabulary from p. 84.  We wrote 20 line dialogues between a parent and child.  You must use at least 15 different vocabulary words from p. 74.75 & 84.  At least two of your sentences must use the subjunctive.

10/14/11- Today we presented the subjunctive situations and played pictionary.  There is no homework, but remember that all makeup tests and quizzes must be taken after school on Monday.  Bon week-end!  :)

10/13/11- Today we went over the quiz.  We discussed the new vocabulary on p. 84 for Unité 2 Partie 2.  We did an oral activity.  You formed groups and were given a situation for which you had to write 10 pieces of advice using il faut que and the subjunctive or il ne faut pas que and the subjunctive.  You will present your advice tomorrow, and the class will try to guess your situation based on the advice you gave.  There is no homework!

10/12/11- Today we took the quiz on Unité 2 Partie 1.  We read Le Travail Ça Paie (p. 82-83 text).  There is no homework!

10/11/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz.  There will be three sections.  In the first one, there will be two paragraphs which you will have to complete by choosing the appropriate vocabulary word.  There are 10.  In the second one, you will have to match 5 of our new verbs from the vocabulary list to their English equivalents.  In the last section, you will have to conjugate 10 verbs in the subjunctive.  They will include all of the forms we've studied:  regular, verbs that are irregular in the indicative, but regular in the subjunctive, and "shoe" verbs of all kinds.  Homework- study for the quiz.

10/10/11- Today we reviewed the use of il faut que and the subjunctive.  We talked about some spelling changes when we write in the subjunctive (p. 81 text).  We did a lot of oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 28 & 29 (Act. 2, 3, 4)

10/7/11- Today we did two listening activities with the vocabulary.  We did some oral exercises with the subjunctive and did an oral crossword puzzle using the vocabulary.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

10/6/11- Today we started talking about the subjunctive mood. (p. 78 text(  We learned how to form the present subjunctive and one of its influencing verbs il faut.  Homework- workbook p. 27

10/5/11- Today we started Unité 2 Partie 1.  We read p.70-73 and studied the vocabulary on p. 74-75 and 77.  We did several oral activities.  Homework- Act. 5 on p. 77 in the text. You must write six sentences following this model (You may not use the model as one of your sentences):  Je n'essuie pas la table parce que je ne trouve pas l'éponge. 

10/4/11- Today we finished the Interlude Culturel for Unité 1 and we went over the review and watched a video on Impressionism.  There is no homework.

10/3/11- Today we went over Friday's test.  We began reading the Interlude Culturel p. 60.  There is no homework, but you should be able to answer questions 1-12 in the review packet.

9/28/11- Today we took the test on Unité 1.  I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS!!  There is no homework.  Bon long week-end! :)

9/27/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's test. (The format of the test is downloaded at the bottom of the page.)  We finished the review packet and played Pictionary.  Homework- Study for the test!!

9/19/11- Today we read and discussed À la Résidence Bon Repos (p. 46-49 text).  We discussed the verbs on p. 48 and took notes on the irregular verb s'endormir and "shoe" verbs s'acheter, se lever and se promener.  We did an oral activity and worked on the Conversations Libres on p. 49.  Each person needs 5 lines and you need to include 5 of the new reflexive verbs within your dialogue.  They will be presented tomorrow.  Homework- workbook p. 23 (Pratique).

9/8/11  We reviewed body parts and did listening activities 1-3 in the workbook p. 107-8.  We introduced vocabulary for la toilette et les soins personnels. p. 42, and did activities 1-3 p. 17-18.  Homework:  Workbook p. 19-20 pratique only.

  9/7/11  - We discussed describing people and body parts using the definite article on p. 38.  We talked about other uses of the definite article on p. 39.  We read Entre Nous p. 40 and 41.  Homework:  Answer Et vous p. 41 (expression orale) in WRITING.

   9/6/11- Today we read and discussed p. 33-35 in the text.  We learned the new vocabulary on p. 36-37. Homework- workbook p. 19 (A)

9/2/11- Today we went over the test.  We read les Trois Bagues (p. 27-30 text) and discussed it in French.  We also read the Rappel Culturelle (p. 20).  There is no homework.  Bon long week-end!  :)

9/1/11- Today we took the test on La Reprise.  There is no homework!  :)

8/31/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's test.  Remember there are two listening sections, there are 7 multiple choice sections on verbs with infinitives, adjectives, irregular verbs, passé composé, imparfait, object pronouns, savoir vs. connaître and personne vs. rien.  There are two written sections.  One is on choosing and conjugating verbs in the present, passé composé, imparfait and impératif.  The other is on answering questions using the appropriate direct or indirect object pronoun in your answer.  There is one extra credit question.  Homework- study for the test!!!

8/30/11- Today we reviewed savoir vs. connaître and did workbook p. 16 orally and ne...personne and ne...rien.  Homework- worksheet

8/29/11- Today we reviewed object pronouns.  We did many oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 17

8/26/11- Today we wrote "stories" in the imparfait about the pictures (p. 18 Act. 4) and presented them to the class.  There is no homework. Bon week-end!  :)

8/25/11- Today we reviewed the imparfait and the reasons for its use.  We did many oral activites.  Homework- workbook p. 13 & 14 (Act. 5 & 6)

8/24/11- Today we played a game to review passé composé.  You chose partners and composed two mini-dialogues and presented one of them (Act.2 p. 15 text).  There is no homework, but I would start studying for the test that is on Thursday, Sept. 1. 

8/23/11- Today we reviewed passé composé with être.  We did an oral activity.  Homework- workbook p. 13 (Act. 4)

8/22/11- Today we reviewed the passé composé with avoir.  We reviewed all of the irregular past participles.  We talked about using il y a with the passé composé to mean ago. We did the activities on p. 12 & 13 orally. Homework- workbook p. 11 & 12

8/19/11- Today we took the quiz on Reprise A.  We did the Rappel Culturelle (p. 11 text).  We reviewed verbs just a little.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

8/18/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz and took notes on using the definite, indefinite and partitive articles.  The quiz consists of 5 sections.  In the first section, you must choose the appropriate adjective for the given situation.  There are 5.  In the second section, you must describe someone or something using 3 different adjectives (make sure to make the adjectives agree with the subject).  There is one question.  In the third section, you will have to match avoir and faire expressions.  There are 5.  The fourth section has four personal questions to answer.  Each answer will either use a present tense verb with an infinitive (aller, être en train de or venir de) or will be one of the irregulars we have studied.
The last section will have three multiple choice questions on using the appropriate articles.

8/17/11- Today we reviewed last night's homework and did workbook p. 6 & 7 (Act. 6) together with a partner in class.  Homework- start studying the material in Reprise A for Friday's quiz

8/16/11- Today we reviewed adjectives again, as well as our avoir and faire expressions.  You took notes on the use of depuis with the present tense and received you irregular verb packets.  Homework- workbook p. 4 & 5

8/15/11- Today we reviewed adjectives (R7 in the text).  We did some oral activities and took notes on verbs that use the present tense and infinitive in order to express other time periods (Rappel- bottom of p. 5 in the text).  We reviewed some avoir expressions.  Homework- workbook p. 3

8/12/11- Today we took an examen diagnostique and discussed it.  We read p. 2 & 3 in
 the text and discussed them.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!

8/11/11- Today we spoke a lot of French with our get acquainted activity.  There is no homework, but you should read through the pink packet that I gave you.
