10/20/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz by finishing the body parts crossword, watching the video and working on the review packet.  There are five sections on the quiz.  The first is the listening where you will hear a dialogue between Marc and Caroline and will have to answer five multiple choice questions about the dialogue.  The dialogue is in French, the questions are in English.  In the second section, you will have to write the appropriate INFINITIVE to complete each sentence.  Ex.  You will see:  je ne veux pas ___________ au tennis.  You would write jouer.  There are five of those.  In the next section, you will have to write sentences about what you like and don't like to do.  Ex.  J'aime parler français.  Je n'aime pas jouer aux jeux vidéo.  There are three of those.  In the next section, you will be given pictures of eight body parts which you will have to match with their French names.  In the last section, you will be given eight more pictures of body parts, but this time you will have to write the name of the body part along with the definite article in French.  Example:  You see a picture of a heart.  You would write le coeur. There will be one or two extra credit questions.  Homework- Study for the quiz

10/19/11- Today we reviewed the ways to say I want or don't want, can, should and like.  We talked about how to thank someone and how to respond and how to agree.  We did the listening activities for this lesson and a crossword puzzle with the body parts.  Homework- Act. 5 p. 81 in the text.

10/18/11- Today we reviewed body parts by drawing some very interesting monsters.  We reviewed our infinitive vocabulary and did some oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 63

10/17/11- Today we went over Friday's quiz.  We learned body parts and started Leçon 5.  We listened to the dialogue (p. 72-73 text). We learned the new vocabulary on p. 74-75.  We did some oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 62 and study the body parts vocabulary

10/14/11- Today we took the quiz on Leçon 4.  We played a guessing game with the days of the week and the "pig" game with time.

There is no homework, but remember that all makeup tests must be taken Monday after school.  Bon week-end!  :)

10/13/11-  We reviewed for the lesson 4 quiz, which is tomorrow, Friday.   To know:  days, months, seasons, time, date, weather information.   Homework p. 54 in the workbook was handed in for a grade.  Not:  all make-up work for absences is due on Friday, tomorrow.   Absolute deadline for make-up tests is Monday, after school.  Homework:  study for quiz.

10/12/11.  We collected warmup logs and toast passes.  We demonstrated il fait mauvais.   We did and handed in a project in which we illustrated the four seasons and wrote sentences telling the season, the day of the week and date, the time of day and the weather.   Homework:  Workbook p. 54 activity 4.  

10/11/11- IMPORTANT NOTE:  Warmup logs and toast passes are due tomorrow, Wednesday.   All makeups for absences by Friday.  Today we did listening exercises on the weather and experienced rain, snow, wind and beautaiful weather first hand.   Homework:  workbook p. 54 activity 3.

10/10/11-  Today we learned how to say Quel temps fait-il?  (What's the weather like?) and several expressions about weather and the seasons.  Homework:  workbook p. 53, activities 1 and 2. 

 10/7/11-  Today we did an oral activity with time that you turned in.  We watched the video for Leçon 4 A & B.  We did some oral questions on days of the week and did a birthday line-up.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

10/06/11  We learned the months and dates and reviewed the days of the week, pages 60-63 in the text.   Homework:  1) learn how to say your birthday in French -- class activity on this tomorrow will be graded for the entire class. Any English will mean no points for anyone.  2)  activity 2, p. 48, 4 p. 49 in the workbook.

10/05/11  Homework was collected, #2 & 3 p. 44 in the workbook.  We reviewed time expressions and learned the days of the week, page 60-61 in the text, as well as words for today (aujourd'hui) and tomorrow (demain), and how to state the day (c'est mercredi) and ask the day (Quel jour est-ce?).   Homework:  workbook p. 48 exercise 1.  A demain! a jeudi!  

10/4/11   We briefly reviewed how to tell time, with expressions du matin, de l'apres-midi, du soir, ..et quart, ..et demie,... moins le quart, etc.   We worked on two worksheets with analog clocks, as these will appear on the quiz.  If you feel insecure in telling time in French, you should finish and review the worksheets and review the textbook p. 56 and following.   We also reviewed how to say something is at a specific time and the 24 hour clock.  Homework:  Workbook p.44 exercise 1.4 activities 2 and 3 (some may have done 3 already).  

10/3/11.  We went over the quiz.  We learned various ways to tell time.  Homework should have been exercise 1 p 43 and exercise 2 (repeat two) p. 44.  Those who did ex. 3 p. 44 as I erroneously said may find it difficult, but we'll do it tomorrow, so you  are ahead.

9/ 28/11- Today we took the quiz on Leçons 3 et 25.  We watched the video for Leçon 25.  We played Around the World with the food vocabulary.  There is no homework.  Bon long week-end!  :)

9/27/11.   We presented our excellent skits (or rather, you did).  Tomorrow is the quiz on lessons 3 and 25.   Lots of food and drink vocabulary on your green sheet you should know.  Go to www.classzone. com for flashcards to practice.

9/7/11 - We handed in homework.  We watched a video about family members, reviewed for the quiz tomorrow, and reviewed numbers with a bingo game.  We did a pronunciation exercise.  Reminder:  you are responsible for vocabulary on the current blue sheet.   Homework:  study for quiz.   

9/3/11- Today we reviewed age.  We did several oral activities.  We did all the listening activities for section 2C.  We wrote about our family members and their ages.  Homework:  workbook p. 23

9/1/11- Today we started 2C.  We listened to the dialogue on p. 34 (text).  We discussed the new vocabulary and the Note Culturelle on p. 35.  We talked about some additional family members and had a lively discussion about animals.  There is no homework.

8/31/11- Today we finished 2B by doing all of the listening activities, watching the video and working on the review sheet.  Homework- finish the review sheet.

8/30/11- Today we reviewed definite articles.  We did an oral activity.  We learned the numbers from 80-1,000 (p. 33 text).  We did an oral activity.  We did the prononciation on the same page.  We did a partner speaking activity and a number activity with the entire class. 8/29/11- Today we listened to the CD for 2B (p. 30 text).  We discussed the new vocabulary and Note Culturelle on p. 31.  We talked about the use of the definite article (p. 32).  We did several oral activities.  Homework- workbook p. 19

8/24/11- Today we went over yesterday's quiz.  We watched the 1C video.  We talked about names that sound the same in English whether they are for boys or girls (ex. Taylor, Alex) and the same kinds of names in French (ex.  Claude, Dominique).  We listened to the CD for 2A p. 27 (text) and discussed the vocabulary and the Note Culturelle on p. 28.  We repeated the numbers from 60-79 (p. 29 text).  Homework- workbook p. 15 

8/23/11- Today we took our first quiz and we sang a song.  There is no homework.

8/22/11- Today we reviewed for tomorrow's quiz.  We did a speaking activity with the alphabet, we went over the vocabulary sheet, we reviewed all three review sheets.  The quiz tomorrow consists of a listening section focusing on how people are feeling (There are 5.)

The next section has four questions on nationality.  You will have to pick out the appropriate flag for the nationality that you hear.  The third section has 15 letters of the alphabet that you will hear and have to identify.  The fourth section has three personal questions for you to answer in complete sentence in French.  The fifth section will give you five number that will be spelled out for you and you will have to write the numeral (Ex.  You will see cinquante-trois  and you would write 53 on your answer sheet).  There will be one extra credit question.  Homework:  Study for the quiz

8/19/11- Today we reviewed our numbers.  We watched the video for 1A and 1B.  We played the "pig" game with letters, numbers, and accents.  There is no homework.  Bon week-end!  :)

8/18/11- Today we reviewed the numbers 0-10 and learned the numbers 11-20.  We learned how to ask and answer where we are from and our nationality.  We did some oral activities.

We listened to the Vidéo-Scènes for 1B and !C (p. 18, 22)  We discussed the word zut and talked about the pronunciation of vowels at the end of a word.  Homework- workbook p. 8

8/17/11- Today we reviewed what we've learned so far and added the numbers 0-10.  We did some oral math problems and did a review worksheet.  Homework- finish the review worksheet

8/16/11- Today we reviewed the alphabet and our greetings.  Everyone chose their French name and spelled it in French.  We worked on a worksheet about French words used in English.  There is no homework.

8/15/11- Today we reviewed our greetings and accents and learned the alphabet.  We did several oral activities.  We listened to the Vidéo-scène on p.14.  We went over the vocabulary and the Note Culturelle on p. 15 and didd the activities on p. 16 orally.  Homework- pick your French name and be prepared to spell it in French.

8/12/11- Today we reviewed the greetings that we learned yesterday and added a few new ones.  We discussed French names and learned the French accent marks.  There is no homework.  Bon weekl-end!  :)
