SECOND NINE WEEKS
Oral Language:
SOL 1.1 Tells and retells stories in order Recites familiar short poems
SOL 1.2 Uses time and position words when giving directions
SOL 1.3 Asks questions
SOL 1.4 Adds or takes away sounds to change words Blends sounds to make words Distinguishes between the middle vowel sound in one syllable words
SOL 1.6 Reads and spells by: · Using beginning and ending sounds · Using short vowel sounds · Blending beginning, middle, and ending sounds · Using word families such at cat, bat, sat · Using common sight words (weekly words)
SOL 1.9 Reads and Understands grade level material by:
SOL 1.10 Uses a grade appropriate dictionary Alphabetizes a list of 8 words using the first letter
Math:
SOL 1.5 Identifies objects in the first through tenth position in a line
SOL 1.7 Estimates and gives a reason for the estimate
Science:
SOL 1.1 Uses simple tools for observation Measures mass, length, and volume using standard and nonstandard units (example: paper clips)
SOL 1.3 Explains that some liquids separate when mixed with water and that some solids dissolve when mixed with water
SOL 1.2 Explains that objects have straight, back and forth, and circular motion Explains that objects may vibrate and produce sound Describes how pushes and pulls can change the movement of an object
Social Studies:
SOL 1.1 Uses a picture time line and tells about differences in the past and present
SOL 1.5 Makes a simple map using a map legend and symbols
