GRADE 8- U.S. HISTORY

This class is a survey of U.S. History, and covers almost a 72,000-year timespan.  The students will study the following units during the first quarter:  Native Americans, Explorers and Colonists, and the English Colonies.  The textbook is The American Journey, which is published by Glencoe.

The grading scale is as follows:  homework counts as a single grade;  classwork counts as a double grade;  unit tests count as a triple grade; quarterly reading projects and the three-dimensional social studies project count as four grades; and the quarterly tests count as either six or nine grades, depending on the number of unit tests in each particular quarter.  Each quarter counts as a separate grade, and  all four quarter grades will be averaged to produce the final grade.  If you have any questions or concerns about the class, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or the telephone; my number at school is 772-1848.
