What a great day we had! A big thanks to all the moms that came along with us.

The children do need to wear their uniforms tomorrow. And the water bottles were a big success. The children and I talked about freezing half a bottle of water tonight and filling it up with water in the morning so they'll have cold water for a good part of the day. And the fruit was a big success on our very hot day. Thanks for all your planning ahead. Now you're all prepared for tomorrow and doing it again!

Of course, no homework and I don't think we'll have a special class tomorrow--I'll find out in the morning. If we do have one, it'll be P.E.

Best regards,

Mrs. D

Old News:

*Monday, May 21

Today's Army presentation was fabulous! Really great.

The students are excited about our walking trips this week. Thanks to all of you parents that said you'd walk with us.

Because of the intensity of the BAS testing, I am not giving learning logs or spelling words this week. I may be able to complete all the the tests this week (if there are enough subs!) so we can get back on schedule next week. but we'll have to play it by ear. Every day is a possible sub day until the testing is done.

Our specials tomorrow are library (don't forget the books!) and P.E.

*Wednesday, May 16

I'm sorry I haven't been able to get to this webpage for so many days. All my energies are going toward completing the mandated BAS reading assessments and the paperwork entailed outside of classtime, so I haven't had time to get to this page.

Some children have not yet handed in their two field trip forms (one for the Environmental Day walk to the Recycling Center, and the other for the walk to the bank at Ledward). Please try to get those back to me asap.

The children do not have their learning logs today. They do, however, have their new spelling words. They are also on www.spellingcity.com so the children can practice them. Please help your child remember to complete an online spelling test before Monday next week.

Tomorrow's special class is P.E.

*Thursday, May 10

We still have a need for chaperones on our Environmental Day walk to the Recycling Center on Conn. Let me know if you can join us. The children have the premission forms so they can go on the walk in their folders. Please sign these and send them back tomorrow.

The learning logs are in the folders, too.

Our special class tomorrow is Art.

*Wednesday, May 9

Thank-you to those two parents who have volunteered for the Environmental Day. I still need four parents who can join us. Please let me know if I can count you in on this great day out for the children.

The homework is just what is on the learning log. The words are now on www.spellingcity.com.

Our special class tomorrow is P.E.

*Tuesday, May 8

We have our Environmental Day walk to the recycling center. I need to ask for volunteers to accompany us that day, May 23, departing about 8:15. Would you be interested in coming with us? Could you please let me know? It's about two miles to walk and it's a great day out, but I need 5 or more parents to chaperone. Please let me know if you can come with us.

The children have their learning logs and their new spelling words in their folders. I have not yet put the words into www.spellingcity.com but the children can practice the Dolch word lists and the contractions lists.

Tomorrow's special class is Music.

Also, I have just received the new menu for the rest of the month. I will post the daily menus tomorrow.

*Thursday, May 3

The children have no learning log today and no other homework. With the talent show, many of the students are busy with that activity.

The special class tomorrow is Art.

*Wednesday, May 2

The robots that came in for the competitition were really creative. It was fun to see them. Those that just did a robot for display (not the competition) have now planted the seeds for next year's competition when your child can do a competition robot. Good for you all. Thanks.

The students have their new spelling words, a two-sided spelling worksheet, and the learning log for their homework.

Our special tomorrow is P.E.

*Tuesday, May 1

I already have two robots sitting in protective custody behind my desk. I probably won't be able to get to my chair by noon tomorrow with so many robots coming in in the morning. If your child has built a robot for the competition, I sent home a final reminder of what needs to be built into the robot by sending home the judging rubric. If your child has just built a "robot" for display (with no mechanical or electonically moving parts), there isn't a rubric and they can have it on display in the gym with all the others (it just won't go through the judging process). No robots will be accepted after noon on Thursday per the notices that have been sent home.

The children have their learning logs in their folders. I did not give out the spelling words for the next week, but I will give them out tomorrow. Your child can get a head-start on them if you like, by clicking on the downloads section of this page.
