Ms. Benedict's EIGHTH Grade ELA Page :) Don't let AR sneak up on you! Remember - you should be reading for 20 minutes or 20 pages at least 5 nights a week. Your goal is to read 700 pages between March 22 and May 14 and complete either an AR test or mini-project for each completed book. You may get the project rubrics from me, and you should be bringing them in as you finish them.
Friday, April 23 - On Monday we will start reading the novel Speak. This is a well-written story involving the very serious topic of a teenager who experiences date rape. A permission letter was sent home with your child on Monday, April 19. If he or she did not share this information with you, please ask to see the letter I sent home, or you may access the form from my site. Only the students who are NOT allowed to read the book should return the form. An e-mail from you is sufficient. An alternate book and assignments will be available for those who do not read the novel. Along with the novel unit we will continue our Wordly Wise vocabulary practice. A quiz will be given on Thursday, April 29 since Friday is a holiday.
