Welcome to Mrs. O'Toole's First Grade This week in First Grade This week we are reading the stories “Frog and Toad Together” and “Growing Plants.” Please practice our word wall words and spelling words at home with your child this week. Also, in the boxes are four sentences for your child to read to you. Word Wall Words: afraid, again, few, how, read, soon
Spelling Words: ask, asked, plan, planned, help, helped, jog, jogged, call, called, again, soon
In phonics we will focus on the ar sound words that end in ed. In Grammar we identify and write verbs in the past and future tense. Frog On a Log Story Math: We will continue to practice addition and subtraction facts, then begin the next unit on geometry. Week of February 6-10
Monday: Math: Worksheet Spelling-Choose one activity Reading Log
Tuesday: Math: Worksheet Language Arts: Worksheet Reading Log
Wednesday: Math-Worksheet Spelling: Choose one activity Reading Log
Thursday: Math- Worksheet Reading- Read story and return in folder. Spelling-Study for test Word Rings: Each week your child will receive a set of new words for the week. Please have your child read these words as often as possible. When your child is able to read the words to me it will be stamped and removed to make room for more words. Please remember to keep rings in folder after practicing words. It is your child's responsibility to take care of the word ring.
Reading Log Daily Reading at home will be an important part of your child's first grade reading program. Every minute your child spends Early readers can gain skill simply by sitting down in a quiet location, and looking through a book. Parent reading, or along with a child is even better and highly encouraged.
Please spend 10 minutes reading Monday through Thursday, and fill out the reading log form. Reading Logs will be collected every Friday.
