May 9, 2011 Dear Parents, I hope you and your family had a great time at the walkathon on Friday. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parent-volunteers who took the time to help us with all the activities. We really appreciate your cooperation. Progress reports were sent home last week. Please make sure you review and sign your child's report and send it back as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please call the school's office to make an appointment to speak with your child's teacher. Boxtops for Education: We will continue to collect boxtops as part of the Boxtops for Education program. As many of you are aware, this program enables us to earn free money for our school. Please remember to save your boxtops for us. Important Dates: Thursday, May 12: Mass 8:30 a.m. May Crowning immediately following Mass (5th Grade) All students are invited to bring flowers for the Virgin Mary.

Objectives for Week May 9th-13th Spelling: The students will learn new concepts and continue to build on skills given (see homework sheet for new and previously taught skills)/ the students will be tested on Spelling List 23 and sentences 1-4. *Test on Thursday, May 12 Reading: The students will read and discuss the story: The Mouse and the Wizard Focus Skill: develop reading skills, oral communication, and thinking skills Saxon Math: The students will learn new concepts and continue to build on skills. (See homework sheet) Language: The students will continue to learn about writing skills. Science: The students will learn about plants.
