  • Ask students the questions from Ex. 8 on p. 181 orally (students do not use books).
  • Audio activity 5-6 – p. A22 in back of workbook.  Use CD4, Track 18-19 or else read script from Teacher Tools Ch. 6 booklet.
  • Quiz review.  Define: éplucher, râper, couper, ajouter.  Name three types of meat.  Name three types of fish or seafood.  (Toss the ball)
  • Quiz on Mots 1.

Warm-up: word scramble (mots 2 – verbs to prepare recipes)

  • More Mots 2. Students read pgs. 178-179 repeating after me to practice pronunciation.
  • Speaking practice – Ex. 6, p. 180. Translate and answer orally.  Indicate if this is done or not.

Present Future Simple.

    • Open books to p. 182.
    • Review aller + infinitive as discussed in French 1 to talk about the near future.  Write some examples on the board.
    • Go over Item 1.  Stress that the e is dropped from the –re verbs.
    • Repeat all 3 verb examples in future.
    • Ask students what the future endings remind them of.  Write the forms of avoir on the board and point out the similarity.
    • Note the irregular verbs in Item 2.
  • Hand out Futur Simple practice packets.  Go through as a class to complete regular verbs.  Do #1-20 on p. 28 in packet.  Then look at irregular verbs and note irregular stems.  Do #1-12 on p. 30 in packet.
  • Closure: List the steps & endings to form the future simple.

Homework – Memorize the irregular verbs (être, faire, aller,avoir) on p. 30 of packet.

Wednesday, 3/7/12

 

  • Warm-up: Conjugate the verb habiter in the futur simple.
  • Write the following irregular stems on the board: ser-, fer-, ir-, aur-.  Ask students to come up and write the infinitive under each verb without using their books.
  • Open books to p. 182.  Review steps to create future simple again.
  • Finish packet from yesterday.  Do #1-15 on p. 29 and all 16 questions on p. 31.
  • Small group practice.  In pairs, complete Ex. 15-16 on p. 184.  Read the directions to the class first.  Model with a volunteer.
  • Written practice (in notebook).  Write a resolution list as described in Ex. 17 on p. 184. 
  • Loto – Make Loto card using list on board from Mots 2.  We will play Loto tomorrow.
  • Closure – Review homework expectations.  Quiz on future simple next Tuesday.

Homework – Bring in props to use in a cooking show – dueFriday!

Lesson #7: (Thursday,March 8, 2012)

  • Warm-up:
    • Write the following in the future tense.  (Will be practice for the style of the quiz).
      • Il me parle. 
      • Vous allez au cinéma.
      • Elles sont chez elles. 
  • Review futur simple construction along with irregular stems.
  • Written practice. Workbook Ex. 7-10 on p. 66-67.  Note: Ch. 6 test on futur simple will look exactly like Ex. 7 in the workbook so review very carefully.
  • Play Loto with Mots 2 vocabulary.  
  • Closure: Remind of homework and quiz.  Review for quiz as needed.

Homework –

  • Bring props for a cooking show tomorrow. 
  • Quiz on futur simple Monday.

Friday, March 9, 2012

  • Pass out Bonjour Chef guidelines and explain expectations.
  • Allow groups to work on script for remainder of class.  Filming will begin Monday.

  • Warm-up: Write a few questions on the board from Ch. 5 test to review answers.
  • Pass back tests (if all have taken it.)
  • Introduce objectives of Ch. 6 – read p. 172.
  • Learn Mots 1 through slideshow, practice pronuncation.
  • Pass out vocab sheets.
  • Orally, Ex .1-2, p. 176.
  • Writing columns on board, do Ex. 3 – p. 177 as a class.
  • Word scramble Mots 1 puzzle with clues.  Collect for grade.
  • Closure: Repeat vocabulary words once again.

  • Warm-up: Divide this list of words into three categories: fruits/legumes/viandes

  • Show slideshow from Bon Voyage to review vocabulary.
  • Check HW.  Go over HW (Ex. 1-2, p. 63).
  • Orally, do Ex. 4, p. 177.
  • Slap the Board Vocab review – Mots 1.

* Introduce Mots 2 through TPR then slideshow to demonstrate actions. 

  • Write the following phrases on the overhead and demonstrate the action word for students to give the missing verb.  Then write the verb into the blank.
    • __________ des pommes de terre     
    • __________ des carottes en rondelles     
    • __________ de la viande
    • __________ du fromage
    • __________ du lait
    • __________ de l’eau

  • Closure: Drill vocabulary.

Lesson #4: (Thursday,March 1, 2012) – SUB PLANS

Warm-up: Give the French word for each.

  • Pass out Wordsearch Mots 1.  They turn in when finished.
  • Ch. 6 Quiz 1 (Mots 1).
  • I have written the following on the board for you…. faire cuire (to cook), faire bouillir (to boil), à feu vif (high heat), à feu doux (low heat).
  • Students work in pairs.  Hand out copies of recipes from children’s cookbook.  Students work together to translate ingredient list and steps for making the selected food.  Integrate math by writing conversions on board:
    • 1 gram = 0.035 ounce
    • 1.8C + 32 = F
    • 150 mL = 5 oz.

They are to translate the recipeinto English and make the conversions to ounces, cups, and Fahrenheit. 

Closure: Announce à For extra credit, you may prepare the dish and bring in next Tuesday or Wednesday.

1. Prezi presentation - Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana.  Learn about traditions of Mardi Gras celebration.

2. Food!  King Cake!

 

Wednesday 2/22 -

1. Collect paragraphs about why people write fewer and fewer letters nowadays.

2. Warm-up:  List five things you recently bought.  Then say where you bought each item.  For example: une chemise – Je l’ai achetée chez Target.

3. Next, we will read Lectures Culturelles to students on p. 160-161.  First read the ‘Reading Strategy’ – evaluating.  Then direct students to read the comprehension check questions to themselves before listening to the article being read aloud to them.  Call on students with strong speaking abilities to read paragraphs aloud. 

4. Students then answer comprehension questions on a sheet of paper and turn in.

5. Closure: Advise students that teenagers in France must be 16 before they can look for a job, but most do not have time because of their schoolwork.  Their parents usually give them an allowance every week or every month for things like bus fare, food for lunch or the occasional movie.
