Wed Aug 19 Welcome to Math 6 We set-up notebooks today. The homework is to take home the Course Organizer for parents and take home the Prentice-Hall book. Thur Aug 20 Today we reviewed Multiplication skills. The homework is the multiplication sheet with the answer puzzle. Fri Aug 21 We reviewed division rules: Dirty (divide) Monkeys (multiply) Smell (subtract) Bad (bring down) Really (repeat steps) and practiced division on page 660 of the book. We will have a quiz Monday on multiplying and dividing skills. Mon Aug 24 We took a quiz on multiplying and dividing whole numbers. No Homework tonite. Tues Aug 25 We finished our Quiz and started Place Value. Homework is the worksheet on Place Value (4th period did not get the assignment). The assignment was completed in class by 4th period. Wed Aug 26 We discussed comparing and ordering numbers and began working in stations on comparing and ordering. No Homework. Thur Aug 27 We worked on comparing and ordering numbers in our stations. Homework is the worksheet on comparing and ordering numbers. Fri Aug 28 We finished working in "stations". No homework. GO MUSTANGS Mon Aug 31 We worked on rules for rounding numbers. We finished a worksheet on rounding numbers. We looked at rules for adding and subtracting decimals. Second period got the homework worksheet, the rest will get it tomorrow. Tue Sept 1 Today we practiced adding and subtracting decimals. We also discussed estimation strategies and tried a few practice problems. The homework is an estimation worksheet. Wed Sept 2 Today we continued estimation strategies, including strategies for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Homework is a worksheet on adding and subtracting decimals. Thur Sept 3 Today we discussed multiplication of decimals. We tried some consumer problems. The homework is a worksheet on multiplying decimals. Fri Sept 4 Today we discussed division of decimals. We will have a test late next week to end the first unit. Have a great Labor Day Weekend. No Homework. Tue Sept 8 We continued with decimal division. Homework is a sheet on decimal division. Review tomorrow. Test Thursday. Progress reports go home Thursday. Wed Sept 9 Reviewed for the test today. Homework is to finish the last problem on the practice test and study the practice test as a study guide. Test tomorrow. Thur Sept 10 We took a test today. Progress reports went home and must be signed and returned tomorrow. Fri Sept 11 We completed the unit with a Notebook Quiz. No Homework. Mon Sept 14 We reviewed the Unit Test today and made corrections. No Homework. Tues Sept 15 We began the Algebra unit with Geometric and Numerical patterns. Homework is a Word Search on the vocabulary for the unit. Wed Sept 16 We discussed Square numbers and the Fibonacci sequence today. Homework is the Looking at Patterns worksheet. Thur Sept 17 We created and discussed our own patterns today and discussed arithmetic and geometric sequences, such as, triangular and square numbers. Homework is the Unit 3 Number Patterns worksheet. Fri Sept 18 Today we took a patterns quiz and discussed Squares and Square Roots. We also discussed how to use the calculators for squares and square roots. No Homework. Mon Sept 21 We discussed exponents to day. Homework is Page 101 in the textbook, problems 16-24. Tues Sept 22 Today we discussed Scientific Notation as a way to write large and small numbers more eficiently. Ask them about a googleplex. The homework is a Scientific Notation worksheet. Wed Sept 23 We continued discussing Scientific Notation and had a Quiz. No Homework. Thur Sept 24 Today we discussed functions and completed a series of function tables. No Homework. Fri Sept 25 Today we used the Classroom Performance System to review the unit to date material. No Homework. Mon Sept 28 Today we began the Hands-on-Equations section of the unit. No Homework tonite. Tues Sept 29 We continued with Hands-on-Equations. No Homework tonite. Wed Sept 30 We continued with Hands-on-Equations. Homework for tonite is to look up some vocabulary terms in the glossary at the back of the book. Second period did not get the homework assignment. Thur Oct 1 Today we finished the first round of Hands-on-Equations. Second period has the vocabulary homework. Fri Oct 2 Today we revied everything by playing the "Clickers" game. No Homework. Mon Oct 5 Today we solved "simple" one-step equations by doing the inverse, or opposite, operation to both sides of the equation. Homework is Practice Worksheet 1-7. Tues Oct 6 Today we continued solving one-step equations and threw in a little vocabulary. Homework is a worksheet on terms and simplifying expressions by substitution. Wed Oct 7 We continued solving one-step equations and simplifying expressions by substitution. Homework is the addition/subtraction one-step equations worksheet. Thur Oct 8 Today we played review Jeopardy to prepare for the Unit Test tomorrow. No Homework. Fri Oct 9 Unit Test today. No Homework. Mon Oct 12 We reviewed the test and began the Integers Unit. No Homework. Tues Oct 13 We finished the Integers Unit by identifying, representing, ordering, and comparing Integers. No Homework. Dress warmly for the field trip tomorrow. Wed Oct 14 Field Trip today. No Homework. Thur Oct 15 Early Release today due to conferences. No Homework. Notebook quiz tomorrow. Fri Oct 16 Notebook quiz today. No Homework. Mon Oct 19 Today we reviewed for the Benchmark Test we will take tomorrow. Homework is to get a good night's rest. Tues Oct 20 We had our benchmark test today. Good Job!! We also started the unit Number Theory and Fractions. No Homework. Wed Oct 21 Today we discussed Factors and discovered Prime Numbers. No Homework. Thur Oct 22 Today we worked the Sieve of Eratosthenes to find Prime Numbers. Homework is page 125 in the text problems 1-16. Fri Oct 23 Today we discussed the GCF and then used the SmartBoard to explore the Natinal Library of Virtual Manipulatives website to calculate Prime Factorizations, the GCF, and the LCM. No Homework. Mon Oct 26 Today we discussed Upside Down Division as a way of calculating the GCF. Homework is a worksheet on the GCF. Tues Oct 27 Today we continued our discussion on the GCF based upon the Upside Down Division ladder. Homework is pages 129-130 problems 1-25. Wed Oct 28 Today we looked at word problems associated with the GCF. Homework is the worksheet Practice 3-3 on the GCF. A lot of students haven't been turning in homework. We need to do a better job on homework. Thur Oct 29 Today we discussed and calculated multiples and Least Common Multiples. Homework is page 145 problems 1-8. Fri Oct 30 Today we used the "clickers" to review the GCF and LCM. We will have a quiz on Monday. Second and Fourth periods have a halloween homework sheet to do. Mon Nov 2 Today we had a quiz on Factors, Multiples, GCF, LCM, and Prime/Composite. We also discussed even and odd numbers. Homework is page 121 problems 1-24. Tues Nov 3 No School. VOTE! Wed Nov 4 Today we continued looking at Factors, Multiples, GCF, LCM, and Prime/Composite. Homework is a worksheet on Multiples. The bottom part asks you to find the least common denominator by using multiples. (2nd period did not get the homework.)

Mon Nov 9 Today we compared fractions and decimals to see which is greater by changing the fraction to a decimal using division. Homework is Practice Worksheet 6-1. Tues Nov 10 Today we compared fractions and decimals to see which is greater by changing the decimal to a fraction. We also looked at pictorial representations of fractions and decimals to compare them. Homework is a worksheet on pictorial representations. Wed Nov 11 Today we played a relay race game to compare and order fractions and decimals. No Homework. Thur Nov 12 No School. Be Safe. Fri Nov 13 Quiz on Factors, Multiples, Primes, Comparing Fractions, and Ordering Frctions and Decimals. No Homework. Mon Nov 16 New Unit on Ratios, Proportions, and Percents. Vocabulary. Worksheets on writing ratios the three different ways a/b, a to b, a:b. No Homework. Tues Nov 17 Continue with worksheets on Ratios and equivalent ratios. No Homework. Wed Nov 18 Finish vocabulary for the unit. Continue discussing ratios and equivalent ratios. Look at some SOL Test questions to see how ratios will be tested. No Homework Thur Nov 19 Today we discussed writing Ratios in their simplest form. Homework is a puzzle worksheet on writing ratios. Fri Nov 20 We continued working on ratios in simplest form. If they didn't finish, the homework is a worksheet titled Ratios, Simplest Form. We also tried to organize our notebooks for the Notebook Quiz on Monday.
