NICEVILLE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL MUSIC DEPARTMENT Welcome to NHS Chorus SchoolNotes! SchoolNotes is the primary communication tool for the Niceville High School Choral Music Department. Students and parents are encouraged to not only bookmark the page, but to also to click and complete the section that will allow automatic e-mail notifications of changes in the page to any e-mail account. Students are responsible for knowing the information posted on SchoolNotes, usually simply a reflection of printed and verbal materials given and discussed in class. When a change is made to SchoolNotes, parents should print the first page, sign it and send it in with their student the next day so he/she can get three merits. You can visit http://nicevillechorus.com to see our web page and get more information regarding our chorus. ********************************************************************************************************************************************* SUPPORT YOUR CHORUS, SUPPORT OUR SINGERS, CELEBRATE a LATE VALENTINE Posted Feb 7 - Do not put off making your reservations for "A Night in Naples" any longer. The evening will start with a silent auction from 5:30-6:30 PM. Seating and pre-entre' drinks and appetizers will be served by our musician-waiters. This event will be held at Niceville First United Methodist Church. Dinner is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. Reservations are necessary. Single reservations are $20; couples, $35. E-mail Betsy Gunn at pbgunn@cox.net or call her at (850) 428-2381. So, come out, bring a Valentine date, bid on some really nice things and enjoy an evening of music and great food. But more than anything else, pay-it-forward and support your choral music program so it can continue to serve its students in a fashion they deserve. TOO MANY QUALIFIED SPRING TRIP CHAPERONS Posted Jan 30 - Due to the low numbers of chorus student-travelers going on the spring trip this year, there is an over abundance of chaperons who would typically be qualified to be considered for the trip. So, if you were at the chaperon clinic last Saturday and would like to volunteer to have your name taken out of consideration for this year's trip, please e-mail Head Chaperon Janet Simpson at thesimpson3@yahoo.com . The rooming lists and assignments are being finalized. Please respond as soon as you can to this call.
2012 SOLO and ENSEMBLE SCHEDULE RELEASED Posted Jan 27 The schedule for Niceville High School's FVA District 1 Solo and Ensemble MPA has been released and published in the download section above. Notice that all solos and ensemble from Niceville will be on Monday, February 13, most in the morning hours. 2013 EUROPEAN CONCERT TOUR BECOMING MORE of a REALITY Posted Jan 21 Plans are moving forward for the Niceville Singers tour of Europe during the spring of 2013. Spring break for Okaloosa in 2012 is Monday, March 25 - Friday, March 29. A travel window using spring break, as well as some of the days before or after for the holiday would allow for a more affordable tour when there are fewer tourists and cooler temperatures. A trip that includes Austria and Germany, as well as Paris, has been the primary center of discussions and planning at this point, some 14 months before the wheels go up on the airliner. There are other travel options, side-trips or day trips on the table but Central Europe remains the focus of planning. Negotiations will continue with travel company contacts during the next few weeks to obtain the best itinerary at the best price. Many chorus students will be traveling with the band to New York in November for the Macy's Day Parade. Some will be going with Ms. Bradey on one of two international trips during the next 18 months. Planning and decisions are needed as soon as possible. Watch SchoolNotes for updates for the Singer's 2013 tour. As soon as decisions are made regarding final destinations and pricing, a meeting will be scheduled for interested singers and adults interested in finding out more about the tour. SPRING TRIP DETAILS AVAILABLE HERE Posted Jan 6 - The chorus spring trip details are coming together. The tour will take all singers to the Orlando area March 14 -18 (Wednesday-Sunday) for a time of singing and other fun activities. The cost of the trip is $465.00 per traveler. The first $100 is due this month, the second $100 in February and the balance at least a week before the trip begins on March 14 (Payments are non-refundable once received). The mandatory parent/student meeting will be on Monday, March 5 at 6:00 PM. Room sign-up list will be available for students to choose their roommates (4 per room) next week. Bus sign-up lists will go up in a couple of weeks. Departure from NHS will be before the start of school on Wednesday. The chorus will singing all day Thursday. Friday and Saturday will be spent in a theme park(s). Sunday will be another travel day.
A calendar (Jan 6) has been posted in the "download" section above. Dates previously posted have been added to this latest calendar. In addition, February 20, President's Day, a school holiday for generations, is not an Okaloosa County holiday this year as was originally published last May on the chorus calendar.
