Happy Thanksgiving!  progress reports went home today.  Bear in mind that I was out of town for 3 graded assignments, with no internet access.  If you check into gradespeed sometime this weekend, all the grades I have will be entered.  The common assessment was rough for some, and the extra 2 grades I enter will probably improve most averages.  In short, don't panic until you see all the grades to date.

Have a good holiday.

11/19/09

Tonight's homework is a practice test.  I have asked that students show their work, as always.  Use the back of the sheets if needed.

Quiz today on simplest form (I think we've got it now).  Actual test is on monday. I am attaching the PDF file of the practice test for all you out-of towners.  It's under "downloads".

I will be away thru Monday.  I'll be back on Tuesday to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.

11-16-09

Homework tonight:   lesson 8-7 # 15-25, but skip # 19.

Quiz tomorrow on common factors, and greatest common factor.

There will be a quiz thursday on simplifying fractions, and a test Monday, on topic 8, Equivalent Fractions.

11-10-09

No Math homework tonight.  Common Assessments are going home.  If they haven't been signed, Please do so tonight.

Sweet Potato day is tomorrow.

Math Masters club applications went out today.   There are 20-25 slots to fill, and sadly, not everyone who applies, can be on the team.  Saying no to Math Masters applicants is one of my least favorite parts of my job.   I will go by cycle 1 math grades and see where we stand.

11/9/09

Homework tonight: lesson 8-6 # 9 - 20

Quiz tomorrow e sure you know your rules of divisibility from on finding factors of a number.  Makpage 179.  It will help.

Also, on friday I asked the students to have their  parents to look over the common assessment for tomorrow, have the reflections done, and do any corrections in their journals.

Social Studies open book test friday on the first Thanksgiving

11/5/09

Homework tonight:

8-5 # 13-24  Use the cup method.  I have attached an example if you were absent on my downloads.

10/22/09

Homework tonight is a reteach section I think we need to hit before we need to move on.  It's Page 216 in the book, SECTION B.  1 thru 6.   Also, I need for each problem a written justification why you think your answer is right.  For example:  3/4 is greater than 3/5 because you have 3 in each numerator, but 4ths are bigger pieces.

Social Studies test tomorrow.

10/21/09

No homework tonight.  Please make sure you have each item on the Camp list checked off as you pack for your adventure.  I think I still have the info sheets on my downloads.

Social Studies Test Friday, Common Assessment the following Friday.

10/19/09

Homework tonight: lesson 9-2 # 11-30.  Please make sure you are writing the fractions to compare, not just symbols as your answer.

10/16/09

It seems all of my previous notes have been vaporized.

No homework over the weekend, but I have handed out the new social studies paper.

Common Assessment for Math will be on Friday the 30th the day after camp.  Early dismissal that day.
