Procedures for second grade

As stated  in the Parent/Student Handbook parental signatures are required  and should be returned the next school day on discipline notices, detentions papers and suspensions.

Homework

As stated  in the Parent/Student Handbook second grade students are expected to do homework. Spelling/Language Arts written homework will be given at least 3 times a week. Journaling will be done and journal notebooks will be sent home for parent signatures at least every other week. All graded papers will go home on Fridays not on a daily basis as papers are graded. Written Math homework will be given.

Written Work

With regards to written work all work should be done in manuscript not cursive in second grade. No pens should be used just pencils. The children will use regular notebook paper. Cursive writing instruction will begin around Christmas time. The children will perform letter accuracy, legibility, and neatness of upper and lower case letters in cursive. The tool for handwriting instruction will be the Zaner-Bloser Publishing Company materials.
