Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. I look forward to working with your children this year.
Expectations: - students are on time to school, and prepared for class, with all needed supplies each day. - every person feels welcomed and respected by all others - Homework is to be completed for the next school day. The work is orally corrected and any questions about the work are answered in class. The work for the section will be collected as a packet the day of the test or quiz. The workbook pages should be used to study for and help prepare for the tests. - a Homework Help Board is available for students to sign up for extra help, either before or after school. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this assistance as needed. Math Grades: Tests 40% Quizzes 30% classwork 30% HW 10% participation 10% The quizzes are based on the workbook pages done for homework that week. They will be given approximately once a week. Literature Grades: Tests 50% Projects 20% HW 10% participation 20% We have approximately 14 novels and several selections from the Literature book which we will be reading this school year. Generally, there will be a test for each novel, but at times a project will take the place of a test as an assessment. Religion Grades: Tests 60% HW/classwork 20% participation 20% The Religion curriculum is based on the life of Jesus. We will focus on all of the Gospels, but particularly on the Gospel of Luke this year. |
