Native American Projects have begun!  Please encourage your child to research their tribe at home!

11/16-11/20

Reading- We will be reading the story titled, A Very Important Day.  This story discusses how families from different countries all celebrate "a very important day."  On this particuliar day, these families are receiving US citizenship in a downtown New York City courtroom.  As we read, we will be working on classifying and categorizing information from within the story.   How are the families alike?  How are they different?

Social Studies- The Native American Projects have begun!  We will be collecting data this week and organizing it into a research paper format.  Students will be working on this in class.  Please encourage your child to conduct research at home and bring it to school to share with other team members.

Writing- We are beginning, "Writing Across the Curriculum."  Students will be combining what they know about North Carolina's regions (Social Studies topic) with ecosystems and habitats (Science topic) that are native to North Carolina.  We will be writing in a research paper format detailing the correlations between the ecosystems and the North Carolina regions.

Parents:  Thank you for taking an active role in your child's education.  By working together we can strive to help your child learn and thrive at an optimal level.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for all that you do.
