Studying Successfully
1. Be prepared. Have everything that you will need to study or complete a homework assignment with you; books, notebooks, pencils, pens, highlighters, calculators, agendas etc.
2. Find a quiet place to study. Eliminate distractions such as the TV or radio while studying.
3. Start a homework routine. Try to study in the same place at the same time of day each time you sit down to complete your homework. It will become a habit!
4. Study when you are the most awake. Don't wait until bedtime to start your homework. You won't remember what you have studied and you won't do your best work.
5. Eat a healthy snack. Don't try to study or complete homework on an empty stomach. Your brain needs fuel.
6. Put homework first. Complete studying or homework before going to extra-curricular activities.
7. Break it down. Complete larger projects or study for big tests a little each day so you don't become overwhelmed by them.
8. Work with a friend. Make studying more interesting by working with a friend. You may even teach each other something.
9. Get organized ahead of time. Pack up bookbags and backpacks the night before with all books, agendas, completed assignments and anything else you will need for the next day. It will make the next school morning much less stressful.
