Diabetes walk went wonderfully!  Thanks to Mrs. Portillo for organizing and helping!  OSE fundraised over $12,000!  Amazing! 

            Our letters to our pen pals are done and we are waiting not so patiently for our first ones to arrive.  I’m hoping they aren’t lost in the mail…L. The students did the most amazing research projects together.  I know projects that happen later on in the year for research are going to be marvelous. 

            I have been very fortunate enough to be selected to write the 3^rd grade Science curriculum for the district.  With that come advantages, trying out fun experiments with most supplies provided by the district, but also there are disadvantages.  One is that I will have to miss some teaching time.  Thankfully, it is only 3 afternoons and Mrs. Stephens will be there to teach along with my sub.  I will be gone tomorrow, Tues. in the afternoon.  Please call the school and not my room with any messages.  The other two days are right after Thanksgiving break. 

            Book orders are coming home tomorrow.  I set up the online ordering and you can do that anytime before Sat.  These make fabulous holiday presents and I mentioned before I can sneak them home if need be. 

            That math packet is the only one I promise I’m going to do.  Please practice multiplication facts over break. 

Texas, Seattle, Texas, Minnesota…where will we live climate wise next week???

This week in 3^rd Grade:

Math:  Money and making change with reviews of any gaps in place value, subtraction, and rounding. 

Spelling: I’m sending home lists from now out.  It isn’t for a huge amount of practicing but I noticed it would help most students. 
Reading and Language Arts: Finishing up letters, new short novel on a different type of pilgrim, mad libs with our TWU observer

Social Studies: Thanksgiving and hopefully a guest speaker!

Science:  Sound and vibrations

Extras:

·         Turkey dinner day is tomorrow Tues. Nov. 17^th instead of Thurs.  Your child has been told at least 3 times by me, this is an FYI for you. 

·         Many people had issues with background checks and being able to walk in the Diabetes Walk.  As far as I know, that wasn’t us!  Thanks for getting them done.  Now you can join us for the party without being turned away for not being secure.  Thanks again!

·         Banana Splits, they are coming…watch for info…

·         Angel Tree, I will select a student for us to adopt and talk with the students about it hopefully before break.  The tree is supposed to be up this week.  Come check it out and if so inclined adopt a local child to help out during this holiday season.
