Welcome to Miss Holbeck's SchoolNotes webpage.

A week of straight school could do us some good!  We started our inventor project.  The research has started and I can’t peel their noses out of the books.  I love that!  All the research is due the 23rd of Feb. and the final project is due Monday March 7.  I know you will love to see them at Open House.

I have many things in store for this week so we are going to be busy!  I am so extremely thankful for the heads up that a student will be out for an appointment.  A few hours notice goes a long way.  Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

I am attaching a writing project for anyone interesting in having their child submit an entry.  So many of the children are fantastic writers, this is their opportunity to shine.  If you have any questions let me know.

Have a fantastic week!  Here’s to a week of outdoor recess.

This week in 3rd Grade:

Math:  We started our fun unit on Geometry.  I am not a lover of geometry but they seem to love it already.  Ask them about perpendicular lines!

Spelling: All groups seem to be in a groove and are getting better at switching quickly.

Reading:  We are refining our ability to do research.

Social Studies: Inventors, inventions, and how they changed the world.

Science:  We have started our study of the solar system.  We will be doing some great interactions together.  Get ready as they will be showing you at home!

Extras:

·        Be sure you are filling out the Six Flags Reading form if you want to get a summer ticket. I can take the forms at any time and have received some already!

·        Our unit on inventions is a fun one that shows change over time. I have some great old inventions but would love extras to show. If you have a rotary phone for example or other classic mechanisms and would be willing to share it with us for a few weeks, please let me know.
