MRS.DIVERS 5th Grade Reading and 4th Grade Writing with the Green Group

Week of May 14- End of the year Writing – Green

SOLS:  SOLs 4.1a, b,e,f,g,and h, 4.2 a-c, 4.7b-d, 4.9b-e and 4.8 d & f

Objectives:  Poetry connection, quotation marks,cursive, typing, spelling that connects to core subject areas, noun review, and technology intergration

STARTING MAY 14 - ALL WORK IN 4TH GRADE (GREEN) WRITING/SPELLING WILL BE DONE IN CURSIVE - We will do away with cursive practice sheets since we'll be getting lots of cursive practice now! :)

Homework - none this week

Graded Assignment:   On May 17 students will have a homophone spelling assignment (we'll review all week and dictionaries can be used) and there will also be a graded assignment on using quotation marks. 

Poetry Packet - On May 17th Green group will see the Poetry Packet that they'll work on next week.  I'll explain the packet and see that they get time to have it finished on or before May 30.  This will mostly be done in school and it will count twice in the grade book.

Reading-

SOLs:  5.4 a-c, 5.6 a-d, g and 5.7b

Objectives:  Poetry, figuarative language, author's purpose,genre study,  math intergration, SOL prep/strategies, Thinking Maps, discussion and technology intergration

Graded Assignment:– Monday - quick check on general comprehension

Homework - Reading Log due Tuesday the 15th
