Arrival and Dismissal

Students will be permitted to enter into the classroom between 8:15 and 8:30am.

During this time, lunch count, attendance and special announcements will be conducted. Students will pledge to the flag, recite the Shark Oath, and sing the Star-Spangled Banner.

Students arriving after 8:30am are considered tardy, and this will be marked on their record.

Afternoon dismissal is at 2:30pm.

Carpool students will be picked up in front of the school. School policy is that you please stay in your car while in the carpool lane. Teachers will escort your child to your car and help them in. Please do not leave your car in the carpool lane and walk up to the building. This creates congestion with traffic and an unsafe situation for children walking through the carpool lane.

****Early pick up: Please sign out your child in the main building before coming to the neighborhood school.****

Attendance

A successful school year experience is the responsibility of the children, the parent and the school. Your child's progress both academically and socially, are influenced to a great extent by daily participation. Regular attendance without tardiness is a key. If your child is absent from school for any reason, you need to send a note with your child on his/her return to school. Please date the notes and state briefly the reason for the absence.

Communication      thnotepadr.gif picture by tensyar

It is important that you review your child's school planner and folder daily.  I will note the discipline code and any necessary information in your child's planner daily.  School forms, homework and student work will be sent in the school folder as needed.

The best way to communicate with me is through the school planner. I review planners each afternoon. I can respond to any questions there. You can also contact me through my email (tguandalini@somersetmiramar.com).

 Dress Code:

Students are required to wear the Somerset Uniform. Both pants/skirts and shirts must display the school logo. All shirts must be tucked in and a belt must be worn. Please make sure your child wears sneakers or running shoes since they are involved in physical activities daily. PE uniform must be worn on PE days. Please make your child's extra clothes (hat, sweaters, coats, anything he/she might take off) are clearly marked with their name.

Please include a change of clothes in their back pack as well (shirt, pants, underwear and socks).
