January 17-20

   Graded paper packets came home on Tuesday. Please sign and return the letter as soon as possible. I am sorry I did not get this posted sooner. There was a problem with school notes and I was unable to edit my webpage! The end of the quarter is this Friday. Report cards will come home next Friday.

Religion: This week in religion we will begin chapter 9: The Celebration of Confirmation.

The students will learn:

• Confirmation leads us from Baptism to the Eucharist
• In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we are sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
• The gifts of the Holy Spirit help those who are confirmed.
• Confirmation calls those anointed to live out their Baptism as witnesses of Jesus Christ

 Math: This week in math we will continue Chapter 4.

  The students will:

• review section B
• explore patterns in numbers to find quotients
• divide money by 1 digit divisors

There will be a quiz over section B on Thursday

Science: We will continue our unit on Electricity. We will continue chapter 2: Current Electricity.This week students will learn the different parts of a circuit. They will be given a Circuit Poster assignment. Directions will come home on Wednesday. Posters are due Jan. 25.

Social Studies: We will continue Chapter 3 Ancient Egypt and Nubia.

Students will:

• describe the importance of religion and the afterlife to ancient Egyptians
• determine the reasons Egyptians made mummies and constructed pyramids
• explain how Egyptians used technology and organization to build the pyramids

We will begin work on a History Pockets project. Through this project we will learn more about the ancient Egyptians and their way of life.
