It is time to return back to school. I hope you rec'd your schedule and you are happy with your courses. I appreciate the students who were able to make it to Open House on Thursday, Aug 20. Here is the supply list if you want to get materials ahead of time: 10th and 11th grade are the same: one composition book (100 pages will last the entire semester) two-pocket folders with insets notebook paper, black, blue, and red ink pen, pencils, & colored pencils Bring a book, any genre, paperbacks are lighter as your first book choice 10th graders will study World Literature which covers Ancient Worlds (3000 BC) to our Contemporary World (today) and explores literature from India, China, Japan, Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Realism, Romanticism, and the Modern and Contemporary World. 11th graders will study American Literature which covers our Early America (Beginnings), Early National period, the Nineteenth-Century, The Age of Realism, the Modern Age, and The Contemporary Period (Present). I am using the workshop models of reading/literature and writing/composition for 10th graders to prepare for the NC Writing Assessment and for 11th graders to start with their topics for the NC Graduation Project. It is going to be a busy semester, but you will be pleased at what we will accomplish. I look forward to having you in my class.
