THINGS TO DO:
Know the deadline date for each application and give yourself enough time to accumulate all the materials needed to meet each deadline. You will not get a second chance if you miss a deadline!
Remember, recommendation letters take time to write, so give teachers and counselors ample time.
Use a large calendar to mark all the deadlines for tests, applications, financial aid forms, interviews and college visits to Coral Reef.
Even if you feel your GPA isn't high enough for college, you should apply. You just might have a special talent or interest that a college would consider to be an aset to its program.
Sign up for the ACT and SAT NOW. Application packets for both tests are available from the Guidance Office. Test score reports from ACT or SAT are a required part of most four-year college applications. Even if you are not sure you want to go to college, take either the ACT or SAT just in case you change your mind.
TRANSCRIPTS
Your high school transcript is part of your college application folder. If the colleges to which you are applying are listed on the transcript request form, you need only to circle the appropriate college, and the transcript will be sent electronically.
Begin to apply to various college and universities. Try to apply to at least two or three schools and make certain that one of those schools is a "sure thing."
Many colleges and universities will be sending admissions representatives to Coral Reef this year to conduct information sessions. Try to sign up and attend as many of these visits as possible. This is an excellent way to find out about many different types of institutions.
