Applicable Unit Understandings |
Artist Pablo Picasso, often given the name of father of modern art, developed the style of cubism with other artist, George Braque. Cubist painters tried to show all slides of a three dimensional object at once. They broke up the subjects into small sections and then reassembled them into a complex composition. Now that the paintings are using the principles and elements of art in broken planes and rearrange them into geometric shapes, the painting then reveal ordinary objects, body, and facial images in a new way. Students will create designs and portraits using the cubist style. They will use the elements of line and shapes when designing their art work. Many students have not started or are STILL WORKING ON JOAN MIRO PAINTINGS. Over a third of the students are still painting. |
