Welcome to Math on the Seagulls Team!"

Wow!  The year has really been going well.  Can you believe it is already 2010?!?  After a full semester, we have five chapters behind us.  We just finished stations with fraction operations and have begun percents in Chapter 8. (Yeah, we skip a couple. We'll be back.)  Be looking for a project on percents to come home in the next week or so.  Work on homework with your child and encourage him/her to make corrections to graded papers.  I usually give back some of the credit if they are correct.  Please sign all quizzes and tests.

Exciting news flash!!!!!!  I just received word that I was selected to have one of the first ActivBoards purchased from our fundraiser money.  It should be installed in our classroom soon.  I look forward to creating more lessons with this wonderful piece of technology.  I hope that this will help your child to succeed at even greater heights.  Thanks to all of you who worked hard on the Invest in a Child Fundraiser to make this happen!

We have been working in each class on the "12 Powerful Words". We will do a variety of activities in each class to help your child remember these words in order to help them be more successful on the EOG tests.  We are finishing a "12 Words Booklet" in class.  This is on-going and will be treated as a project grade.  Twelve new words will follow and have been started in class.  Please review these words with your child and help reinforce what is being done at school. Together, we can make a difference.  (The 12 words are listed at the bottom of the homework.)

I am looking forward to a great year.  If you need me, let me know.
