Week of 5/14/12
Reading- we will take out test on Blame it on the Wolf on Tuesday and begin reading Lou Gehrig: The Luckiest Man
LA-we will take a quiz on Wednesday on proper use of good, well, negative words, punctuation, and capitalization
Math- We will be working on types of triangles. There will be a quiz on Thursday.
Spelling-the test and sentences will be Thursday
religion-we will continue working on out Mary project
Social studies-we will continue working on our state project and also begine reading chapter 11



Week of 5/7/12
reading-we will be reading "Blame it on the Wolf". The test will be Monday 5/14.
LA- the final draft of the persuasive paper is due Tuesday 5/8. We will also be working on proper use of good, well, and negative words as well as punctuation.
math-we will continue working on equalivent fractions and simplest form. The quiz will be Thursday.
religion-we will be starting a project on Mary (details will be posted on Religion Info page by tomorrow) this will not be due until 5/24. We will also continue working in our family life book.
social studies- we will be starting a project on Midwestern and Western states ( details will be posted on the Social studies info page soon)




week of 4/30/12
reading-we will finish reading Half Chicken. The test will be on Thursday.
LA-the rough draft of the persuasive paper is due tuesday 5/1/12. The final draft is due 5/8/12
math-the fraction quiz has been moved to tuesday 5/1/12
social studies- the chapter 10 test will be on Friday.
religion-we will begin using our family life book. There will be workbook pages and writing assignments collected through out the next few weeks.


Week of 4/16/12
Reading- we will be reading Rikki-tikki-tavi in our hardcover book. The test will be Next Tuesday 4/24.
Religion- We will be working on chapter 11.
Social studies- we will be starting chapter 10. The vocab. for chapter 10 will be due on Friday.
Math- we will be working on measurement. There will be a quiz on Monday 4/23.
LA- we are learning about persuasive writing. Paper due dates will be posted soon.




Week of 4/2/12
reading-the final quiz for Indian in the Cupboard was today, Monday. We will be watching the movie and comparing it to the book.
Social studies- we will be finishing chapter 9. The chapter test will be on Wednesday.
LA-we will be reviewing verbs. There will be a quiz Wednesday.
Religion-we will be reviewing Easter/Holy Week.
Math-we will be working on finding the mean.


Week of 3/26/12
reading-we will be finishing The Indian in the Cupboard. The quiz of chapter 13-15 will be on Monday 4/2.
social studies- we will be working on chapter 9. the quiz on chapters 1 and 2 will be Friday 3/30. The vocabulary for chapter 9 lessons 1-3 will also be due on Friday. The chapter 9 test will be Wednesday 4/4.
Math- we will continue working on divisibility and prime and composite numbers. There will be a quiz on these topics on Thursday 3/29.
LA- the final draft of the how to paper will be due on Tuesday 3/27. There will be a quiz on verbs on Friday 3/30.The verb quiz has been moved to next Wednesday due to the Stations of the Cross schedule this Friday.
Religion- we will continue chapter 10. The test will be Thursday 3/29.
Spelling-sentences and test Friday 3/30.

reading-the test on chapter 10-12 has been moved to Wednesday 3/21.
Social studies- the test on chapter 8 has been moved to Wednesday 3/21
LA- the final draft of the LA paper has been extended to Tuesday 3/27.
Religion- we will be finishing our Lent/Easter chapters and beginning chapter 10
math- please remember the multiplication quiz is tomorrow 3/21. It will cover multiplying by three and four digit numbers in the top row.

Week of 3/12/12
reading- we will be reading chapter 10-12 in our novel. There will be a quiz Tuesday 3/20. Vocabulary words will be due this Thursday.
math- we will be working on multiplying greater numbers. There will be a quiz next Wednesday.
Religion- we will be learning about Holy Week and Easter.
LA- We will continue working on writing a "how to" paper. The rough draft will be due this Thursday 3/15. The final draft will be due next Thursday 3/22. Rubrics went home last week. We will also begin working on verbs.
social studies- we will be working on chapter 8. The chapter 8 test will be Tuesday 3/20.

Terra Novas will be from 8:15-10:15 each morning.

Reading-we will be working on chapter 7-9 in the novel. The quiz will be Friday and the vocabulary words will also be due Friday.
Math-we will be working on Terra Nova prep (fractions, perimeter, area, congruent shapes)
LA- we will begin learning how to write a how to paper
religion-we will be learning about Lent
social studies- we will be finishing chapter 7. The chapter test will be on Friday. The lesson 3 quiz will be counted as a worksheet.

Week of 2/6/12
Reading- we will continue our work with The Indian in the Cupboard. All work for chapter 1-3 will be collected Tuesday. We will take a practice quiz Monday and Tuesday that will count as a worksheet.
Social studies- we will continue presenting our state reports. Flash cards for chapter 7 lessons 1-3 will be due on Wednesday.
Math-we have been reviewing division with remainders since many students did not score well on that portion of the quiz. There will be another quiz on division with remainders on Wednesday.
LA- we will be working on demonstrative adjectives and adjectives that tell how many.
Religion- We will complete the unit 2 review-this will be collected on Wednesday. We will begin chapter 9
Spelling- sentences and test will be Friday

Week of 1/30/12
reading- We have begun reading The Indian in the Cupboard. There will be various writing assignments and quizzes throughout our work on the novel.
Math- the division quiz has been moved to Monday 1/30.
Social studies- the state project is due 2/3/12. Flash cards for chapter 7 lessons 1-3 are due 2/6/12.
LA- Final drafts for the the descriptive paper have been moved to 2/2/12. We will also continue our work on adjectives. There will be a quiz on Thursday.
Religion- we will continue working on chapter 8. The test will be Friday.

Reading- the test on The Storm will be Thursday.
Religion- we will be working on chapter 8.
Math- we will continue working on division. There will be a quiz Friday.
LA- the final draft of the descriptive paper will be due 2/1/12. We will also be working on adjectives.
Social studies- students will be doing a state project that will be due on 2/3/12. Students will pick a state from either the Eastern or Southern regions and describe the state's resources, jobs, climate, what they do for fun in the state, when, how and why it was founded. Pictures should be included. This can be done in the form or either a paper, poster, post card, or any other approved idea that the student chooses.


Week of 1/17/12
Reading. We will be reading The Storm. The test will be next Monday.
Social Studies- The chapter 6 1 and 2 test will be Tuesday 1/17. It will be open book. The chapter 6 test has been moved to Friday.
Math- we will be working on division. There will be a quiz Friday.
Religion- we will be finishing chapter 7. The test will be Thursday. Students will also create a beatitude booklet that will be due next Tuesday.
LA- we will continue working on descriptive papers. The rough draft will be due Wednesday 1/18 and the final draft will be due 1/25.

Reading- We will finish reading On the Pampas. The quiz will be Thursday.
Social studies- we will continue working on chapter 6. The quiz on lessons 1 and 2 will be on Friday. The chapter 6 test will be next Tuesday.

Math- we will begin multiplication.

Week of 12/20/11
Thank you all for your understanding during my absence. I'm feeling wonderful and am doing my best to catch up on grading. I will be updating powerschool as soon as possible.

Reading- we have finished our story, Marven of the great North Woods. I will have the students take the test on Wednesday but I will count it as a worksheet. It will be open book.

Social studies- We have finished chapter 5 and will be taking the test on Wednesday but I will be counting it as a worksheet and it will be open book and open notebook. Students who need more time to finish will be allowed to turn it in after the break.

math- we will continue working on multiplication. There will be a take home quiz given the the students on Wednesday that will be due Jan. 6th.

religion- we will finish our Christmas/ Advent activities.

LA- we will continue working on pronouns and the students will have an open book quiz on Wednesday.

Social studies-we will finish chapter 4. Since there are only two lessons in this chapter we will not be taking a quiz, we will take the chapter test next Tuesday. The flash cards for lessons 1 and 2 will be due on Wednesday.
Religion-we will be working on chapter 6.

Math-we will review problems that were commonly missed on last week's quiz. We will also continue comparing and ordering numbers. There will be a quiz on this on Friday.

Spelling- students will receive the list of spelling words Monday. The test will be Friday.

LA- We continue learning simple and complete subjects and predicates. There will be a quiz Thursday. We will also be learning about personal narratives. The rough draft will be due next Friday. Students will receive a rubric this week.

Social studies- We will wrap up our discussion of 9/11 and continue working on chapter 1 lessons 1 and 2.
Week of 9/6/11
LA- we will have a quiz on Thursday on types of sentences and subjects/predicates

Reading- we will have a test Friday on A Visit With Grandpa

Math-we will have a test Thursday about place value

Religion- we will continue working on chapter 1

Social studies- we will continue learning about 9/11. The students will need to interview someone who was at least 15 in 2001 by Friday. They will receive the interview questions on Wedneday.


Week of 8/29/11
LA-we will be working on parts of a sentence and personal narratives.

Spelling- students will be given a list of spelling words on Monday. There will be a test on Friday.

Math-we will be learning about place value. Students should complete vocabulary words by Tuesday. They need to copy the definitions from the book and leave space for the examples we will be adding together.

Social studies- we will be starting chapter 1 lessons 1 and 2. Vocabulary flash cards for lessons 1 and 2 will be due Wednesday. Students should create their own version of the definition as well as an example sentence for each word.

Religion- We will be starting chapter 1.
