Hello! Winter is the perfect time to do some of these indoor activities....Many student are still having diffuculty with BASIC MATH FACTS. We are adding facts that total up to and past 20. Please study them with flash cards each evening. Use the flashcards and make a memory game or let them use computer math sites with games to practice their skills. Please continue to read for the Book It! program. All students should have a chapter book in their backpack each week that they can read during silent reading time after lunch. They can record this silent reading in their Book It! folders. Take a look in the Bible and read some Bible stories together. We have just learned about how the Scriptures are read in Mass. Write, write, write! Write stories at home and make your own books! Bring them in to read to the class during snack time!! Here is what we are doing the week of Jan. 24, 2010: Reading-"Alvin Ailey Kids" Skill-summarizing and visualizing Language Arts- the verb have, commas Math-subtracting with borrowing, counting coins, time to five minutes Religion-Chapter 11 Acting on God's Word Science-water habitats Social Studies-cultures, land and water forms Please read the information sent home about Catholic School Week. You are free to join us for the many fun activities that are planned. Also, be sure to come to the second grade's cultural exhibit. All projects for the exhibit shoild be in by Monday, February 1. If you are sending in food for sampling, that can be brought in the morning or afternoon of the exhibit day. Please wear warm hats and mittens...we will be going outside at lunch. Also, put names in ALL belongings!
