6/7 and 6/8 FROG DISSECTION LAB - Comparative anatomy lab.  Students who have a religious, moral, or ethical reason which prevents them from completing this lab will be given an alternate, independent project.

5/27 and 5/28 - EVOLUTION TEST!

5/25 and 5/26 - PPT notes review Chapter 6 sections 2 and 3.  Give each student a study guide.  Vocabulary review will be homework if not finished in class.

5/21 (gold) and 5/24 (silver) Acrostic summary using E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N Students will work in groups to create their own acrostics to summarize evolution models.   EXAMPLE:

Everything changes due to

5/19 (gold) and 5/20 (silver) - BrainPop!  Continue reading pages 159-161 and copy and answer questions on page 161.

5/17 (gold) and 5/18 (silver)  LAB – No opposing thumbs.  How would our live be different if we did not have this important appendage?  We will read pages 154-158.  Rain "tree".

5/13 (gold) & 5/14 (silver) BINDER CHECK!  We will begin EVOLUTION with a Bill Nye Evolution video. 

5/7-5/11 (gold) & 5/10-5/12 (silver) Begin new unit.  What is genetic engineering?  Students will begin project in which they must work with a small group to decide on 6 people to help start the human race after an asteroid hits.  Simple genetics traits must be maintained and the group must cooperative with each other.

5/5 & 5/6 PowerPoint Jeopardy game, then TEST.  We will FINALLY watch the rest of Osmosis Jones after the test today.

5/3 & 5/4 Review Ch5, Section 2 and homework assignment is due.   Pair/share to complete TEST review.

4/29 & 4/30 Ch 5, Section 2   TEST NEXT WEEK!

4/27 & 4/28 - Finish Smiley babies BRAINPOP review.  Punnett square practice.  HW:  Worksheet given in class

4/23 (TEMPORARY EVACUATION) & 4/26 - VOCABULARY REVIEW with QUIZ Discuss results of class phenotypes.  Begin Smiley baby in class project.  Students will flip coins to determine genotype of Smiley face phenotypes then create a Smiley baby.

4/21 & 4/22 Genetics notes via PPT.  What's your phenotype - students will work in groups to evaluate common physical characteristics.  Results will form our dominant and recessive traits for our classes. 4-22 HW:  Page 132 1-5 & STUDY VOCABULARY WORDS FROM CH 4 SECTION 2 AND 3 PLUS CH 5 SECTION 1.

4/19 & 4/20 Intro to Genetics - Bill Nye "Genes" HW:  Finish defining vocabulary words through "recessive" on vocabulary sheet in your binder.  If you have lost your sheet, the word are on page 126.

4/15 & 4/16 Venn Diagram of Mitosis/Meiosis.  Review PPT questions. HW:  Have a great weekend.

 4/13 (gold) & 4/14 (silver) Finish DNA models and BrainPOP (periods 3,4,5,6,7,&8)  Mitosis PPT  HW: p. 109 1-4 & finish WB p. # 43 & 44.

4/9 (gold) & 4/12 (silver) Continue DNA alias and DNA models.

4/7 (gold) & 4/8 (silver) - What's your DNA alias?  Students will read an article on DNA structure and complete a crossword puzzle to go along with the article.  Then students will determine their DNA alias using a given code.
