ART NOTES YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO PUT ON HIS OR HER SMOCK BY THEMSELF. ALSO, WE WOULD LIKE TO COVER AS MUCH OF YOUR CHILD AS NECESSARY(INCLUDING WHITE SHIRT SLEEVES). OLD ADULT T-SHIRTS OR BUTTON DOWN SHIRTS ARE BEST FOR THIS. BIG IS BEAUTIFUL WHEN IT COMES TO SMOCKS GRADE 1 has just finished a color project. Ask them what flavor juice their ghost drank. We have read "The Ghost Dinner", a story in which ghosts change color when they eat or drink . We have mixed primary colors to achieve secondary colors and painted ghosts with the resulting"juice". GRADE 2 has just completed an Ikon self portrait. The image is a view of the student's future profession. Next we will be doing a short project involving line and color patterns. GRADE 3 is working on a "day of the dead" skull from Mexican culture. The students will decorate their skull pictures with colorful line patterns GRADE 4 will be doing a "day of the dead" skull; but will pair it with a shaded naturalistic charcoal skull. They will contrast stylized depictions with naturalistic depictions and learn how to render a 3 dimensional image CYCLE GRADE 7 is working on a version of a Japanese woodcut print and will be using Japanese imagery, either traditional or modern including anime
