Welcome to the Wonderful World of Kindergarten

Dear Parents,

It has been a very full week.  On Tuesday, we made thank you cards as a salute to our veterans. Our cards were then delivered to the Veteran’s Hospital on Wednesday.  Many thanks to Mrs. Panico for organizing our project.  We will also take part in a program, initiated by our CCD director, Mrs. Giglio, in which we will make Christmas cards for our soldiers who are stationed overseas.                        .

Our Thanksgiving unit is in full swing.  This week webecame Native Americans from the Wampanoag tribe- “People of the Light.”  We constructed a weetu, a typical eastern Native American dwelling, using hedge clippings as our support frame and brown bags as our tree bark covering.  The children did an excellent job.  We started to discuss the Pilgrim’s arrival and this week we will construct a colonial home using Lincoln Logs.  We will also create thank you prayers for our bulletin board display-“Thinking Thankful Thoughts.”  Of course, we will also be busy crafting Tom Turkey, who will be “hanging” around our room until Thanksgiving.

Our new letter this week will be /N/ and our highlighted high-frequency word will be/to/.  In Math we will continue to discuss position and direction.

This Wednesday,November 18, will a Special Day sponsored by our Student Council.  The theme of this day will be a vacation destination.  Children may add a favorite T-shirt or sweatshirt from their favorite vacation spot to their St. John’s uniform. The cost will be $1.00.  Notices will be going home during the week.

     Have a Wonderful Week!

Thank you for your continued support and assistance.

                                                                     Sincerely,

                                                                     Mrs. Carol Berls
