WELCOME to the WONDERFUL WORLD of KINDERGARTEN Dear Parents, BRAVO! What an AWESOME performance by your little STARS! The children put on a wonderful show. Thank you for your support in teaching your child their nursery rhyme and for your creativity with their costume and props. A SPECIAL thank for the delicious treats, we had enough to share and enjoy with our Prayer Partners on Thursday! I would also like to thank those parents who attended our Book Fair, just having you visit for a short time added a little fun to our day. Happy Valentine's Day a week early. Many fun activities are planned for our Valentine's Day celebration on Tuesday, February 14th. Graphing candy hearts, reading Valentine's Day stories and sharing valentines with our friends are sure to add some extra FUN to our day! The children are encouraged to "mail" valentines to their classmates. We will be decorating our "mailbags" in anticipation for a special delivery. The children may or may not personalize each valentine. We have a class of 15-9 boys and 6 girls. We can't forget our 100th Day celebration on Wednesday, February 15th. It's hard to believe we have just passed our half-way point. The past few months that I have spent with your child have passed quickly. I have many more activities planned that I hope the children will enjoy. This week you will receive a food item request to add to our 100th Day trail mix. Please have your child count out 100 pieces of their requested food item. Send in their SPECIAL addition in zip lock bag or small contained on Wednesday, February 15th. All treats will be mixed to make a DELICIOUS and UNIQUE class-made snack mix. I am also anxious to see your child's 100 piece collection. Another way in which we will celebrate this SPECIAL day is to have the children Show-N-Tell a favorite collection. The only rule: it has to have 100 pieces! A notice will be sent home tomorrow giving you more information about our 100th Day celebration and Valentine's Day. So far this week looks like a quiet one. With so much excitment last week we need a little rest and to get back into our routine. This week a new vowel will be introduced: /E/. Our new high-frequency word will be /this/. A new Math unit also awaits us. We will be exploring Table, Graphs and Fractions over the next few weeks. Our focus this week will be tally marks. During the month of February our Social Studies units will focus on Famous Americans. We will highlight George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as well as famous Black American inventors. In Science we will talk about Dental Health, on Monday, February 13th, a visiting nurse will present to us a short assembly on Dental Hygiene. Thank you for your continued support and assistance.
