Then they added white feathers to the body of the duck and then added the tail feathers. They look cute! Then we played the shapes game. Ms Karen put our ducks (with shapes on them) in a brown bag and w had to reach in and choose a duck to see which shape they had. Then they went over to the table and drew that shape. Everyone did a great job! Then we went outside to do our sicence experiment. We talked about how a duck stays dry. Then Ms Karen had a child hold an umbrella while she poured water over them. They didn't get wet. Same thing with a duck. They have a special oil on their feathers. So we took a feather, put some oil on it, and then each child got to put a drop of water on it. The result: the water ran off it just like the duck. They thought that this was a cool experiment. Then we came inside to play in big room. Then we ate lunch. Then after lunch, we got to go outside....no rain!!!!! They had a great time being able to run off some energy. Then we came in for nap. Tomorrow is Show and Tell. Have a great evening! Hello Parents,
What a good start to our week! We kept very busy! We started off with snack and circle time. We read In The Small, Small Pond. Our theme this week is the Pond. Then each child got a card with a number on it. They told me the number and then they put that many frogs are their paper. They did great! We started off getting into a group. The first group traced and practiced drawing shapes and their name and the other group did our art project and then we switched. Our art project today was putting a frog on a lily pad (template) on our paper. Then Ms Karen put three colors: blue, green, and yellow around the frog. Then we had to paint all around the template. Then Ms Karen had a brayer that when we rolled it in the paint, it blended it into a pretty water color. Then they lifted the template up, and there all in white was the frog on the lily pad. They did a great job with this. Then while Ms Karen cleaned up, everyone got to play. Then it was time to go to Library where we played a game of making their name from lily pads. The lily pads were a different color, so we went over our colors. Everyone did great! They did a great job! We used the lowercase letters. Then it was time to get ready for lunch. Hello Parents,
We had a super day! We started off with snack and circle time. Our theme this week is Life Cycles. We did the life cycle of an ant today. We read the book Are You An Ant? We all agreed that we are not ants. Then we talked about how ants live in a colony and how they have to work together to move something (ex. food). So we did an experiment. Each child was asked to see if they could move a table all by themselves. Then we decided to do teamwork like ants, so we all moved the table together. Then we did our ants in the pants dance. It really got all their sillies out. Then it was time to go to Blocks. In Blocks, we did our art project. Each child spread brown paint on their paper and then with their finger, they drew tunnels in the paint. The next step was to put another sheet of paper over the paint and the child lightly rubbed over the picture and when you lifted it, you got the imprint of the tunnels. Then the children put a sticker of an ant(s) on their tunnels. Then we made edible anthills. Each child was given a bag with three crackers in it and then they crushed the crackers and then Ms Karen put in some ants (chocolate chips). They really enjoyed this treat! Then we cleaned up and went outside. What a nice day. Then we came in and had lunch. Then back outside to play on blacktop. Then we came in for nap. Remember to bring show and tell tomorrow. Hello Parents,
I want sunshine!! Regardless of the rain, we got a lot accomplished today. We started off with snack and circle time. Then we read You Will Never Guess…a book about shadows but the shadow they saw wasn’t what they thought it was. They liked this book. Then we talked about things that reminded us that it is springtime. Then we talked about how grass grows in the spring. So for our science today we planted grass in a container and we are going to keep an eye on it to see if our grass grows. We set it outside so the rain would water it. Then we talked about the rain and what the rain leaves on the blacktop…puddles. Then we jumped over our inside paper puddles. They really enjoyed this. Then we went to Blocks. We started off doing a couple of things. Working on our hallway art, our mother’s day surprise, and assessments. Then it was time to go to Computer Lab where we read books and Ms Karen did some more assessments. Happy Earth Day! We had a great day! We started off with snack and circle time. Then we passed out little cute bags and put a couple of different flower seeds in them (Thank you, Terri, for the seeds and bags). Then we planted carrots. Everyone is excited to watch the seeds grow. Then we used our circle time sheet and Ms Karen put a playground ball (to be Earth) on the sheet and using teamwork, everyone had to pick the sheet up and try and not let our Earth (ball) fall off – we want to take care of our Earth. Then we went to Blocks.
In Blocks, we started off with decorating our birdhouse (a shoebox) with shredded paper. Next, we worked some more on our hallway art. Then we cleaned up and went outside to hang our birdhouse up and fill it with bird seed and then we took the rest of our shredded paper and everyone grabbed a handful and on the count of 3, everyone threw their paper in the air and we yelled “Happy Earth Day”. Hello Parents,
We had a great Tuesday! We started off with snack and circle time. We read Recycle. We looked at 5 recyclable items and we talked about how we could reuse them. Everyone came up with some great ideas. Then we talked about trash and where the trash goes after the garbage man picks it up. We saw pictures of landfills and we decided that they don’t look very pretty. Then we glued trash onto our picture trashcan. Then we hung it up where we eat lunch next to the recyclable sign. Then we talked about what biodegradable meant. Then we went outside and we buried a spoon and a paper cup. We will go back in a couple of weeks and see if anything is still there. They can’t wait! Then we went on a nature walk and talked about our earth and all the neat things we have on our earth….trees, plants, flowers. We breathed in the fresh air and decided we didn’t have any pollution. Then we went to go get a drink from our clean water fountain. Whew! A busy morning!
Next, we went to Blocks. We got our spring art assignment and we will be making bees. We painted our paper plates yellow and then tomorrow we will add our black stripes. Then after that we went outside to play. Then we came in and ate lunch. Then we went back outside to play on blacktop and they had fun riding bikes and writing and drawing with chalk. Hello Parents,
This week our theme is Recycling. We ate our snack and then had circle time. We read Cleaning Up Litter. We talked about trash and the earth. We named some things that make the earth sad and some things that make the earth happy. We talked about recycling and what that meant. We learned the 3R’s in sign language…reduce, recycle, and reuse. Then we talked about keeping our water clean. We did a science experiment where we put trash in clean water and at the end of the week we are going to see what our water looks like. Will it be clear? What will the trash look like?
Next, we went to Blocks. We started off with our art project. We talked about the earth and what the earth is made of. We talked how we will use green for our land and blue for our water. Then we made the earth using blue and green watercolors and an eyedropper on a coffee filter. They did a great job following directions. Then while those were drying, we cut out hearts for our paper. Our art project today was “We Love Our Earth”. Then we cleaned up and went outside. Ms Karen brought in a BIG ball and we played with it. We had a lot of fun! Then we came in and got ready for lunch. Today at lunch, the class had to ask before they threw away their trash, because Ms Karen brought in another bin for us to put our recyclables in. By the end of lunch, everyone was doing a great job determining what was trash and what needed to be recycled. Then we went back outside to play on blacktop. Then back in for daytime nap.

Hello Parents,
What a great day! We started off with snack and circle time. Our theme this week is Dinosaurs. We read The Dinosaur. We talked about the Stegasaurus. We looked at a Dinosaur magazine of all the different types of dinosaurs. Each child drew a happy face on their dinosaur and then we wrote down why he was so happy. Then Ms Karen brought a dinosaur game that we had to pull back a lever and then release it to where a ball would go in a hole. They loved it! Then we got some dinosaurs and Ms Karen taught us a fingerplay song (sung to the tune of Little Bunny Foo Foo). Then we finished with circle time and we went to Blocks. We learned that a Stegasaurs has triangle shapes on their backs. For our art, each child tore triangle shapes from paper and glued them on their dinosaur. They did a really great job! Then after cleaning up from art, we then did our Science, which was making dinosaur eggs. We put all the ingredients in a bag, then each child got to smush the ingredients together, and then we put our spoon in the bag and scooped out some and shaped them into eggs. Hello Parents,
What a great day despite the rain and it being a little cold....We started off with snack and circle time. We read two books: Harry Gets Ready For School and Healthy Eating. We talked about red-light (don't eat a lot qll the time), yellow-light (nutritious but we still don't want to eat a lot), and green-light foods (foods we can eat a lot of) and we glued different foods that belong to these colors. Then we cleaned up and went to Blocks. We made a strawberry-banana smoothie. We talked about all the healthy ingredients we put in the blender and then each child got to push the button to blend all the ingredients together. Then we had cupcakes (Grace brought in to celebrate her birthday) with our smoothie. They really enjoyed this treat! Then we cleaned up, went to get our show and tell, and we went to Computer Lab. In Comupter Lab, everyone shared what they brought and then they all played nicely. Then when show and tell was done, we traced each other's hands and feet on a big sheet of paper. They did really good with this activity. Then we wrote our names on the paper. Then we got all our stuff together, went to our cubbies, put everything away, and got our lunch boxes. At lunch, we talked about all the healthy foods we had. After lunch, we didn't go outside, we went to Library and they had a great time! New toys and they one day will all make good nurses or doctors. Then we cleaned up and went to nap. Have a great evening and I will see everyone tomorrow! Ms Karen

Then we talked about being weighed and measured at a doctor's office. So Ms Karen got out her scale and measuring tape and weighed and measured us. Then we went to the Eye Wise presentation. Hello Parents,
We started off with snack and circle time. Those who didn't get their hallway art done, we got those ready for our sunflower seeds. Then we to Blocks. Our activity today was to see what the surface of the moon looks like. Ms Karen mixed plaster of
paris and painted it on bubble wrap. Then we had to wait for it to try. While it was trying, we did a couple more things. We put sponges under our shoes and kept them there with rubber bands and then we walked around the room to see what it would feel like to walk on the moon. Then we finished our hallway art (sunflowers) by adding the sunflower seeds. Then we peeled the bubble wrap off the plaster paris to see what the texture looked like. They were excited to see this. Then we cleaned up and went outside. It looked like rain, but it held out so we could run around and have fun. Then we came in and had lunch. After lunch, we went outside to blacktop and Ms Karen let us jump on the bubble wrap. They had a lot of fun! Then after a while...it started raining. We came in just in time. Hello Parents,
What another great fun day! We started off with snack and circle time. Then we read If I Were A Rainbow. Then we played a game where Ms Karen put circles (the colors of the rainbow) on the floor and each child had a color they had to pick up and then count how many they collected. Then we went to Blocks. We made a circular rainbow from plastic canvas onto regular paint paper and when we lifted it up then we had a neat design. Then we made rainbow cookies. Each child was given a cup of frosting with a spoon (magic spoon of course) and they had to stir their frosting. Magically it turned into a color of the rainbow. Then they got to spread the frosting on their cookie and eat it. Of course, they loved this! Then we decorated chipboard flowers the colors of the rainbow. They got to spread the glue all around and then sprinkle glitter on them. They thought they were so beautiful! Then we cleaned up and went outside. What another beautiful day! Then we came in and had another picnic lunch. They love it! Then we went back outside where we went out to the field again and kicked balls and threw the frisbee. Hello Parents,
Hope everyone had a great day despite the snow! We had a great day in PS2! We kept very busy! With the few kids I had until about 9:00, we worked on our circle time mats. Ms Karen traced their name in glue and then they added the glitter. They look real nice! Then they just played with the train set until we went to Blocks. Once in Blocks, more kids arrived, so we started our story. Today's story was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We acted out the story on our flannel board. Then we made a graph to show how many things the caterpillar ate every day. They had so much fun with this activity. Then for our art project, we painted paper plates (color of their choice) and then tomorrow we will make a caterpillar mobile and hang from the ceiling. Then it was time to go to the Computer Lab. We made beautiful butterflies to eat. We put frosting on our plate, put pretzels on for the wings, m&m's for the body, and then we sprinkled colorful sprinkles over the whole butterfly. Boy, were they good! Then we spelled words on the computer. We spelled: caterpillar and butterfly. Ms Karen also worked some magic on the computer and somehow made the first letters of words become big and change colors. Then we spelled everyone's name on the computer and they got to choose what color they wanted and then see if their first little letter would turn into a big letter. Then we printed them out. They had so much fun with this activity. After all that fun, it was time for lunch. Everyone had a great lunch and they earned their m&m after for having great table manners. Then they got to play in big room for a little bit. Then it was time to go to the Library. They basically just had a great time playing and socializing together. I think they were then ready for nap. Remember tomorrow is Show and Tell. Everyone have a great night. See you all tomorrow! Ms Karen

Hello Parents,
We made it! Today is Friday. Ms Sharon taught our class today while Ms Karen observed Ms Sharon. Before Ms Sharon came in, we had our snack and we did our calendar. Then when Ms Sharon came in she brought in a pumpkin. She started off reading The Littlest Pumpkin. They talked about the story and then she talked to them about the pumpkin. She talked about the outside of the pumpkin and asked them questions and they talked about the inside of the pumpkin and asked them questions. Then they played with the balls before going to Blocks. In Blocks, Ms Sharon showed them the art project they were going to do. They would be making a pumpkin. They painted the paper plate orange and then they cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth and then glued them on the paper plate to make a pumpkin face. They turned out
great! The next activity was to clean out the pumpkin and take out the seeds. They put all the seeds in a bowl and washed them to prepare them to be cooked. Next, we went to Big Room to hear Ms Patty read us Pinkalicious. It fit the occasion because Ms Patty had on a pink wig for crazy hair day. Then before we got ready to go to the Computer Lab, Ms Sharon came to us and we watched her sprinkle cinnnamon sugar on the seeds and then she was going to go put them in the oven. Then while in Computer Lab, we had two choices: play on the compter or build things with blocks. Then it was time for lunch. Everyone had a healthy lunch today! Then we went to Library and then got ready for nap. Everyone have a great weekend and I will see everyone on Monday! Ms Karen

Then they made a face, nose, and mouth on their cow. Everyone did a great job! Everyone did a great job counting the dots on the die. Then everyone got to choose a color to paint our barn. They chose blue, pink, and I threw in some red. Then we did show and tell. Everyone talked about their toy they brought and shared very nicely. Then we got ready and went to the Science room. We did our circle time (calendar, story, and played a couple of games - 1. We went over the animals and then while the children hid their eyes and counted, I took one away and then when they were done counting to 10, they had to tell me which animal was missing. They are getting pretty good at it. Then Ms Karen read Chicken Chickens go to the playground. Then it was time to get ready for lunch, After lunch, everyone got to play in bigroom for a little bit. Hello Parents,
What a fabulous day! We started off with snack and circle time. We worked on our assessments. Then we worked on the holiday show dance. We read How The Rooster Lost His Crow. Then it was time to go over to Blocks. We talked about all the animals on a farm and then we decorated our chickens with different colors of tissue paper. Then we ate chicken feed which consisted of cereal, sunflower seeds, and marshmallows. Then we played a couple of games. The first one was where we named and counted all the animals and then we had to close our eyes and count to 10 while Ms Karen took one away. Then we had to guess which farm animal was missing. Everyone enjoyed this game. Then Ms Karen sang a song and we had to listen so we knew which action we needed to do, for example--a horse galloping around the farm, etc. We really liked this one also. Then we went outside. It was pretty nice. It would have been a lot nicer if the sun was out. Then we came in for a healthy lunch and then when we were putting our lunch boxes away, we saw that it was raining. So we went into Library where we got to play with a whole new setup of toys.
We worked on our holiday show to show Ms Bridgette. Everyone is doing a great job practicing! Then it was time for nap. Tomorrow is show and tell. Bring in something good to show and share. Have a great evening! Ms Karen

Hello Parents,
What a great day to start our October! We had a great day! We started off with snack and circle time. Ms Karen made a list of rules and we went over them. I think it helped that they visually saw our paper. Ms Karen read Five Little Monkeys With Nothing To Do. Then we practiced our holiday show dance. So far so good! Next, we went to Blocks. We talked about muscles and why our body has them. Then we glued rubber bands on our doll. Then we did a couple of science experiments. The first, we poured lemonade in some cups and added food coloring to them to see what colors we made. Then everyone got to try some lemonade. The second, we put a hard boiled egg in some water and we wanted to see if it would float or sink---it sank. Then we added salt to the water to see what the egg would do--it just turned upright and the salt made the water very cloudy. We could hardly see the egg. Then we peeled the egg and everyone tried some. Then we cut it up and added it to our mayonnaise and we made egg salad. Everyone tried some on a cracker. Then we painted our salt dough pumpkins. We mixed red and yellow and we got orange. Everyone did a great job on painting the pumpkins! Hello Parents,
What a rainy Monday, but we still had a lot of fun! We started off with snack and circle time. We read Bear Snores On. We stretched and danced to the dragon song. Next, we went to Blocks. We started off with our science experiment. We filled three glasses with water - one to the rim, one half of that, and then one half of the second one. Then we tapped on the glasses to hear the different sounds they make with the different levels of water in them. The kids had fun with this activity. We played Mary Had A Little Lamb on the glasses. Then Ms Karen had us look at all the toys in the room and she told us to choose a toy to draw. Everyone leaned toward drawing the lego blocks. But they did a good job! Then we played a game where we had cards that had our five senses on them and the children had to put them on the child who was laying down. Everyone did a great job! Then we went to Computer Lab where Ms Karen bought us a special puzzle that once you put it together, you can write on it with chalk. Then we took down some building toys and built some things. Then it was time for lunch. We all had a healthy lunch. Then we went to the Library. We haven't been in there for a while, so everyone had a great time just playing with the toys. Then we cleaned up and Ms Karen read us Curious George Makes Pancakes. Then it was time for a nap. Everyone have a great evening and I will see you tomorrow! Ms Karen

Hello Parents,
We had a great Friday! We started off with snack and circle time. We read Thank You Grandpa. A book about a little girl spending time with her grandfather with a walk in the woods. We stretched and danced. We did the Dragon song. The kids love this song. Then we learned how to jump rope. Everyone did a great job trying. They just need to practice. Then we spread the rope out on the floor in a crazy design and everyone had to walk on the line. Everyone did a great job! Then Ethan showed us his penny. I explained to them about both sides of the penny - heads and tails. Then I showed them how to flip it in the air and then cover it with your hand and ask...do you think it's head or tails? The kids really had fun with this. Next, we went to Blocks. Gage has really been wanting muffins, so we made blueberry muffins today as a group. While we were waiting for our muffins to get done, we made our Home Sweet Home sign. The kids traced the letters with glue and then sprinkled sparkles on them. Then the kids painted houses with glitter glue. The kids loved this activity! Then we did an experiment like the one yesterday where we filled our cup with water to the rim and we wanted to see how many pennies could make the water overflow. Well, today we used rocks to see if we could make this happen. Sure enough, we got enough rocks to make it overflow. The kids love science projects! They are so much fun to do. Then our muffins were ready to eat. Before we played, we went on the porch to eat our muffins. They were yummy!! Then we went to play. What a beautiful day! Then we got ready to come in for lunch. We all had a great lunch! Then we went outside to blacktop. They earned it today and they had a great time! Then we headed in for nap. Everyone have a great weekend! I will see you on Monday! We dropped in about 25 pennies. Then we combined our other experiment which was dropping Nerds (candy) in the water also. We wanted to see if the water changed colors - it didn't until we poured the water out. Then it was time for us to go outside. Hello Parents,
It is Friday! We have had a great day! We started off with snack and circle time. We read We Love School. Today we played a lot of games. We put cotton balls on the table and we blew them to each other. And then we tried to blow them on the rug. Guess what....it worked. For our circle time we have been working on our alphabet and spelling our names. Everyone is doing good! A fun thing to do at home to help with what we are working on would be to go over the alphabet also with your child. Mix it up and ask them their letters. They really like doing this activity. Then we wrote a story about our rules at school. Next, we went to Blocks. From our art project yesterday, we took off the tape to see what kind of design we made. They were neat! Then we did an art science experiment. Each child got to use an eye dropper and put 4 water colors on their paper (red, yellow, blue, green) and then Ms Karen put drops of oil next to the colored drops, then the child picked up the paper and let the oil and colored water run down the paper. They turned out really neat! Then we got ready to go outside and play. It was a little wet from the rain last night, but we still had fun. Then we came in and had a nice lunch. Then instead of going outside, Ms Karen had a fun activity for us to do inside. She gave us cards, stickers, and envelopes. Each child got to write or color a card for their mom or dad, then decorated it with stickers, and then they had to put the card in the envelope and seal it and put the envelope in their cubby for mom or dad. It was some nice quiet, bonding time. They did awesome!! Well everyone have a great weekend! We had a great first week of school! See everyone on Monday! Ms Karen

Hello Parents,
We had a great day today! We started off with our normal routine of snack and circle time. We read the book Cleo’s Color Book. We went over all the colors in Spanish. Then we got out the flannel board and we counted the ice cream scoops on our cone. We even said our numbers in Spanish. Then Ms Karen gave us a surprise---she gave us little mini doodles (we have to keep them at school though). It is to help us with our writing. Ms Karen writes a letter on her dry erase board and we follow along what she does. Then we did our morning exercise and stretching. We love the song Freeze. Next, we went to Blocks. We made a pretend milkshake. We painted tinted glue on the inside of our cup, we added colored tissue paper, we added cotton for whipped cream, and last but not least, we added a red pom-pom for our cherry on top. They looked really cute!! Next, we played a game where we took tissue paper and scrunched it and then we had to try and get our tissue ball in the bowl in the middle of the room. That was a fun game!! Then Ms Karen was ready for us to make ICE CREAM!!! She showed us a recipe card – what ingredients we needed and the directions to make the ice cream. Then when we were done with following the directions, we all had to shake the bag—we kept our fingers crossed that when we opened the bag, we would have ice cream. So after 5 minutes, we opened our bag---and guess what----we had ICE CREAM!! We all got to try it and it was really yummy!!!! Then our last thing was to glue a pattern of colors on our ice cream cones. For example, we had a blue, orange, blue, orange pattern. Everyone did a great job! Then we were ready to go outside to play. It was a little warm today, but we had fun! Then we came in and ate our healthy lunches and then headed back outside to play again. Then we came in and did our cool down before nap. We were all out very quick. Tomorrow promises to hold another fun day! Remember, we have Show and Tell. Everyone bring a great toy to share. See everyone tomorrow!!! Ms Karen
