Happy Friday! We had a nice end to our week. We started with our usual, library for snack and circle time. We then went to computer lab and played on the computers. Afterwards we went to science and since we had a big class today, we decided to get started on our Father’s Day gifts. We worked in small groups on them and when everyone had a chance to finish theirs, we went outside to mulch.

We came in alter for our lunchtime and when lunch was over, we went to play on blacktop until nap. Next week will be sort of a relaxed week. Our main goal will be to finish all Father’s day gifts and we’ll also be getting outside as much as we can to allow rooms to get a little head start on cleaning and organization for when we make the switch to summer camp. Remember that next Friday, June 11, we will be closed to allow for time for completing summer prep. When we return on Monday, June 14, we’ll be in Pre-K and have new boxes down the hall. We are starting to get excited about the big change!

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hello! We had an enjoyable day and we got it all started in library to have our snack and circle time. When we finished, we went to computer lab and not only did we play games online, we also enjoyed some yummy pancakes! Antonio and his mom brought in some McDonalds pancakes to share with us this morning. It was a nice surprise J When we finished in computer lab we went to science and we worked together to name things that go in a salad and then we identified what color each item was and then we gathered the appropriate paint colors. We then worked together to paint a picture of a big salad. It turned out nicely! Afterwards, we read our book “Pickin’ Peas” and had a little to play.

When we finished up in science, we went to big room and worked on writing numbers and drawing a corresponding amount of flowers with it. They worked so nicely on it! When everyone had finished with that activity, we were able to get outside on blacktop for a little bit before lunch.

We came into blocks for our lunchtime and when finished, we returned to blacktop for some more outside playtime until naptime.

Tomorrow should be a fun Friday! See everyone then.

Hello! We had a nice day today and we got it started in library with our snack and circle time. We also did some reviewing our last names and spelling, birthdays, concepts and worked on identifying our middle names. We then moved to science and worked on our art project. I gave them each a magical bean to plant on a piece of paper that can grow into anything they want. So they drew their ground and glued on the bean and then drew what would grow out from their bean. We had some great imagination! When that was finished, we went outside to try and beat the rain. We got out for a little bit and then it rained, so we came in to read our story and do show and tell and during that, the rain stopped and the sun came out! When show and tell was finished, we talked about different things we could plant and determined if it would grow or not, such as a rock and sunflower seed. They named some great things that would grow!

We then got to go back outside and play on mulch until lunch. When lunch was finished, we went out to play on blacktop until our nap. We got lucky that the rain was just a small amount today!

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Happy June! I hope that everyone had a fun Memorial day weekend! We had lots to talk about today and we also got to celebrate Antonio’s 4th birthday! We hope that he had a wonderful birthday yesterday.

We got our morning started in library with snack and circle time. We got to change the calendar and we saw that we only have 2 weeks left in preschool and then we’ll move up to pre-k! Very exciting. After our finished up in library we went to computer lab for game time and then we went to science. We worked together for our project of making a book! We made a how-to book on growing flowers. We talked about the different steps involved in growing a flower and each of them illustrated a page and then traced letters to get the words on their page. We worked together on the final page by each drawing one part and writing a few words each. The cover was also a team effort and then we assembled the book and were left with our finished product! So, if you need any tips on growing a flower, we have a book on display by our bulletin board. J  When we finished with that, we read our book along with our story “Cecil’s Garden” We also talked about different things that you can grow in a garden, such as different vegetables and some flowers. We used the rest of our time to review letter sounds and then we got ready to go play outside on mulch.

After playing on mulch, we came in to blocks to eat our lunches. When finished, we went to science to sing happy birthday to Antonio and enjoy the yummy cookies he brought in for us. Thanks Antonio! Afterwards, we went out to play on blacktop until our naptime.

We had a great Tuesday and kicked off our garden theme week. Remember that tomorrow is show and tell! See everyone then J

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good time with field day yesterday. I think it showed on everyone that they played hard J Today, we started out in library with our snack and circle time and then moved to computer lab to play games on Nick Jr. When finished, we moved to science and we got creative and drew a picture of ourselves as a bug. Then they had to tell me why those chose to be that bug and we wrote their sentence on their picture. They worked nicely on it and their pictures look wonderful! When finished with that, we read our story “Bugs are Insects” and then we talked about different homes that different bugs live in.  When we finished with that, we went outside to play because everyone was just bursting with energy so we definitely needed to go burn some off.

After playing on mulch, it was lunchtime so we came in to blocks to eat and when finished we went to blacktop and played til our naptime. Remember that on Monday we are closed for Memorial Day. I hope that you all have a nice long weekend and when we return on Tuesday, we’ll be in our garden theme week so we’ll be working hard on those activities.

See everyone Tuesday!

Happy Wednesday! We had a nice day and it was started with our usual, library to have our snack and circle time. Afterwards, we played and then reviewed lowercase letters and sounds. Next we moved to science and got to work on making patternpillars! They were given 6 circles in two colors to cut out and then they had to put them in a pattern order and glue them down making a caterpillar, adding a face when finished. When we got cleaned up, we got ready to share our awesome bugs that everyone worked so hard on making! I was amazed to see everyone’s hard work and all their creativity. Each of them shared their bug with us talking about what its called, where it lives, what it eats and other details. When we finished with them, we set them on the hallway table to everyone can see them.

We got our show and tell items out for our next activity and took them to science to share. When that was finished, we made a stop in the kindergarten room to see their baby chicks that hatched from eggs they have been monitoring. We got to see 4 of them and they were so adorable! It was definitely a hi-light of our morning.

After seeing the chicks, we went outside to play on mulch. We came in when it was lunchtime and went to blocks to eat. After our lunch, we went out to blacktop and played until our naptime.

Tomorrow is our field day! Please remember to wear your tie-dye shirt. Other than that, everything else is taken care of. We’ll have a lunch provided so you wont need to pack a lunch. I’m looking forward to a fun day!

See everyone for field day!

Hello! We had a nice day today! We got it all started in library to have our snack and circle time. Afterwards we moved to computer lab and played games on PBS Kids and built with legos. Later, we moved into science and got to work on making firefly art. They cut out their firefly body and wax paper wings and then we covered the end of their tails is gold glitter. When we finished that activity, we sat down to watch bugs dance! My special bugs (raisins) danced for us in their special water (Sprite) they loved watching them bob up and down in the cup doing their dance. Reading was our next activity and we read “Chirping Crickets” and then we made a chart to graph answers on what people say, either lightning bug or firefly. For each answer, we glued on a picture of the insect.

We went outside to play on mulch after our time in science and we came back at lunchtime and cleaned up and ate in blocks. After lunch, we went out to blacktop where we played in the nice shade until naptime.

Tomorrow is show and tell and also the day to share our bugs that everyone has invented! See everyone then!

Have a great day.

Hello! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! We had a fantastic Monday! We got our day started in library to have snack and do our circle time. We then got ready to go to computer lab and we played games on Playhouse Disney and built with legos. Afterwards we moved to science and learned that our theme for the week is insects! To get started on it, we talked about insects that live in the ground, on the grass, and in the sky. Then we assembled a picture scene by gluing down a brown strip for dirt and then a green strip on top of it for grass and then the rest was the sky. I then asked them to draw at least one insect for each the ground, grass and sky. When we finished with that activity, we worked on finishing the turtle we started on Friday. Since our shells took a little while to dry, we didn’t get a chance then to attach the legs and head so we did that today. Next, we sat down to read our story, “Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!” which showed us all different kinds of bugs. At the end, we talked about each bug and decided if it could fly, if it stung, and learned where it lives. We finished up our time by working on comparing number sets. We learned a little bit about a greater than and less than sign, by understanding that the open end, it’s mouth, always faces the bigger number and we used that to show which number was bigger in each set.

Next, we went outside to mulch, and boy it was hot! The summer temps are making their way here this week! We stayed and played and came in a little before lunch so we could get some water and cool off with a few stories in library before eating. We then went to blocks for lunch and when finished, we went to blacktop to play until coming in to get water and cool off before nap.

Remember on Wednesday, I am asking everyone to bring in their invented bug they have been asked to make at home. And Thursday is our field day! Shirts are on boxes today so be sure to pick those up  J

Have a great day!

Happy Friday! We had a nice day and we got to celebrate Kyle’s 4th birthday! We’re glad he joined us just in time for it J So we all wish him a happy birthday tomorrow!

To get our day started, we went to library and had our snack and circle time. When we finished with that, we moved to the computer lab and we played some games online at Playskool Kids. We also used time to read books. Our next stop was science where we got to work on making turtles. To make their shell, we painted the outside of a Styrofoam bowl green and then we cut out a head and 4 legs. The shells are taking a little while to dry, so we hadn’t had a chance to attach them, but we certainly will as soon as they are dry. Afterward, we read our book “In the Small. Small Pond” and we talked about the different animals in the story and reviewed some different things we talked about this week along with our last names and spelled them.  We also worked on numbers by playing a number guessing game and doing some addition problems.

Next, we went outside to play on mulch and then came in when it was time for lunch. W We went to blocks to clean up and eat. After our lunch, we went to science to sing happy birthday to Kyle and enjoy the yummy cookies he brought in to share with the class. We used the rest of our time to play on blacktop and ride bikes. We finished up our morning by then coming in for naptime.

Next week will be our insect week and also our Field Day is Thursday! We’re looking forward to a fun filled week.

Have a great weekend!

Hello! We got to welcome a new friend to our class today! His name is Kyle and he will be with us everyday. We are glad to have him join us!

We got our day going with time in library for our snack and circle time. We also played and reviewed letter sounds. Later we moved to science and got to work on making frogs. We got lots of compliments on them; everyone thought they were cute! We cut out circles and then folded them in half. Cut out eyes and glued on eyeballs and then rolled a tongue to glue down inside the mouth. After we finished with that we read our story “Moose Pond, Beaver Pond” and then we enjoyed some yummy wormy pond water! At first they were hesitant… but then I reveled that it was blue jell-o with gummy worms and they quickly changed their mind! Everyone had a small cup of our pond water and then we cleaned up the room and moved to big room.

When there, we had our show and tell and shared our items. Then we played and got our shirts all rolled and prepared for tomorrow, our big tie-dying day! The weather is looking good for tomorrow so we can hopefully get outside and get the shirts all finished. Lunchtime was next and when we finished our lunches in blocks, we went to science and had a treat for getting our marble jar filled up on Monday! They earned pizza flavored goldfish crackers so everyone enjoyed having those. We also played and read a story before going into nap.

Have a great day!

Hello! We had a nice day and it all got started in library where we had our snack and circle time. We also reviewed last names and spelling, along with lower case letters and letter sounds. When we finished and moved to science, we sat down to make ducks. I gave them a duck and on the back, we worked on writing our last name in addition to our first name! Then we colored the beak in and selected yellow feathers to glue down on the duck. Next, we read our book “Waddle, Waddle, Quack, Quack, Quack” and then we listed some pond animals and moved onto our next project where each of them chose one pond animal and then we worked on filling out a fact sheet about the animal, such as where it lives, what it eats, what it has and what it does. I wrote their answers and they traced over them and then drew a picture showing the animal. It was a great project and everyone worked really hard on their sheet!

Our next stop was computer lab. Ms. Karen traded her room with us so that we could get in there since its been awhile with all of the conferences going on during the morning. While in the computer lab, we played games and played with Legos.

Lunch was next and we went to blocks to eat. After lunch, we went outside to mulch to get some fresh air! If only we had some sun, it would have been really nice! We’re looking forward to seeing it again here someday J

Tomorrow is show and tell and we’ll work on the pond activities. Have a great day!

Happy Monday! I’m glad that we were able to enjoy a nice weekend break in the rain! We are definitely looking forward to a nice weekday so we can get outside! We got our morning started in library to have our snack and circle time. We also worked on lower case letters and played. When we later moved to science, we learned that our theme is the pond and we worked on making lily pads. They were given their lily pad shape to cut out and then glued on a white flower and then added a crumpled yellow tissue paper center to the flower. Afterwards, we sat down for our book “A Look at the Pond”. It had different flaps that we first tired to guess what might be hiding under them. We saw lots of different pond animals and insects.

After our story, we learned the song “10 little speckled frogs” and we sang it from 10 all to way down to 0. We finished up our turn in science with some time to play. Big room was our next room and while there, we did a sink or float experiment. We reviwed what it meant to sink and to float and then looked at 6 different items and guessed it it would sink or float, and we recorded our guesses on a chart. Then we tested each item by placing them in a big bucket of water. They did a great job with their guesses because they got 4/6 correct! They were good scientists! We recorded our results on our chart so that we could easily compare our results with guesses. After our experiment, we played and then we sat down to attempt the game of leapfrog. It was a little confusing for us today, but we all tried and got a turn to be both the jumper and the non-jumper. When we finished with the game, we had some more play time and then finished up with a story before going to lunch.

After lunch in blocks, we cleaned up and moved to science where we used the time to play while we waited for our naptime. We did a great job of enjoying our rainy day today and we look forward to a fun pond week! And, we’ll get to work on making our field day t-shirts later in the week.

Have a great day!

Hello on this rainy day!  I hope everyone is staying dry J. We got our Wednesday started off by going to library to have our snack and do our circle time. We also reviewed some lowercase letters and identified their sounds along with some words that start with each letter. When we late moved to science, we started talking about camping. We shared some stories of times that we all did some camping and then worked on making a camping picture. One a piece of paper, they drew grass and then we glued on a tent cut out that has opening flaps. Inside of the flaps, they drew a picture of themselves and anyone else they were camping with. They also added some details to their pictures too with suns and trees. The finished pictures look great! Next, we sat down to read our story “Rabbits and Raindrops” which was perfect for today! We finished up afterwards with our show and tell time. After sharing, there was time to play with their items.

Next stop was big room and we enjoyed a delicious camping treat, s’mores! Since we couldn’t make our marshmallows with fire, we used the indoor version, the microwave. After heating them up, we ate them and it sure was funny seeing how messy they are!  Once we were all cleaned up from that, we played and danced to music.

Lunch was next, and today we ate in big room with Ms. Karen’s class so blocks could be used for the potluck in Ms. Melissa’s class.  When lunch was finished, we went to science and played and read stories until nap.

Have a great day! See everyone tomorrow J
