Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 HOMEROOM: * As you likely know by now, the event we were supposed to have with the helicopter last Friday has been postponed until spring. * I now have almost every single signed report card envelope. Thanks! * H1N1 vaccinations were given today. Only students who returned consent forms received them. SECTIONS 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, and 5-5: *TheChapter 8 (Multiplying Decimals) tests were returned today. Most students fared very well. Those students who scored 75% or below are required to do corrections on a separate sheet of (looseleaf) paper, stapled to the front of the test itself. Those corrections should be returned tomorrow. * We're wrapping up long division now; the Chapter 9 test (division with 1 digit divisors) will be given on Wednesday. Up next: dividing by 2 digit divisors, followed by division of decimals by whole numbers. *Asa reminder, students who have a score of less than 100% on thetimed multiplication facts quiz should be studying every night! SECTION 5-6: * We took a quiz today on LCMs (least common multiples) and Fraction Operations (addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers). After looking them over, I can say with 100% certainty that the class knocked it out of the park today! * We'll continue with Fraction Operations this week (multiplication and division of fractions and whole numbers); our test would be next week if not for Thanksgiving break. As it stands, next Monday will be a review day, and we'll take our Chapter 5 (Fraction Operations) test upon our return from break (11/30 or 12/1). From what I'm seeing so far from the students in this chapter, this plan should work out just fine. Have a great week! -Mr. DeLuca*********************************************************************** Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 HOMEROOM: * Please ensure your child wears a white shirt to school on Friday, November 13. In celebration of Delaware Charter School Week, the entire school is going to assemble on the field next Friday afternoon and form a giant "NCS." A helicopter will be flying overhead and pictures will be taken. Our class will be partof the "C" and will need to wear white. If your child does not have a white uniform shirt, he/she may wear a red or blue one instead. * Report cards went home on Friday 11/6. Thanks to those of you who signed and returned the outside envelopes...a few still have yet to come back. * H1N1 vaccinations will be given next week. SECTIONS 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, and 5-5: *The Chapter 8 (Multiplying Decimals)test was given today. Up next: Division, which we'll start tomorrow. It'll be a short chapter (primarily review); the test will be given next Wednesday. *As a reminder, students who have a score of less than 100% on the timedmultiplication facts quiz should be studying every night! SECTION 5-6: * Fraction Operations. We'll have a quiz on Monday 11/16. Have a great week! -Mr. DeLuca |
