1st grade Hebrew/Judaics

Our School’s First and Second Grade Canned Food Drive is now in progress.  Please send in your donations!!  Only canned foods please!  We will give all of the donations to the Good Samaritan Hunger Center.

1st grade

Students are learning some of the basic colors in Hebrew. 

They are:

Red/ Adom                                                                                                              Purple/Sagol                                                                                                     Blue/Kahol (ch sound as if you are clearing your throat)                                           Orange/ Katom                                                                                                                 Pink/ Varod                                                                                                                         Black/Shahor (ch sound as if you are clearning your throat)                                     Yellow/Tzahov                                                                                                                                                                                                                              White/Lavan                                                                                                           Green/Yarok                                                                                                   Brown/Hoom (Ch sound-clear your thoat)

First grade continues to have fun learning Hebrew verbs.  Some of them are Lalechet (to walk, to go), Latet (to give), Larutz (to run) and Likfotz (to jump).  The class enjoys playing oral Hebrew games with one another. 

We started on letter recognition activities as well as continue on with oral vocabulary exercises.  The main focus right now is for the students to strengthen their listening skills in Hebrew and start recognizing and understanding words and sentences.  Starting around Feb. students will start learning to formally read.

Judaics- Complete pages 50-51 on another sheet of paper in Partners with G-d.   Write five things you have done in the past or future for Tzedakah.  Due Monday, 11/23

Students have been learning new and reviewing old Hebrew verbs.  Some of the verbs are: Lalechet (to walk, to go), Latet (to give), Likfotz(to jump) and Lasim (to put).  The class enjoys playing oral Hebrew games with one another. Students continued to practice introducing themselves to one another in Hebrew.
