If you are looking here, you are probably looking for China Grove Middle School Science for 6th graders.  New students are encouraged to explore this site to verify that they are utilizing all the resources available to them to help make them successful.  This quarter in science we will be exploring the concept of energy.  The last major concept of the quarter will be light and matter.  We will study how light is absorbed, scattered, and perceived by the human eye.  Students will be drawing the human eye and looking at each others eyes in a whole new light. Parents might inquire of their children about the assignments that are listed here.  

During the second quarter, we will be studying how matter is cycled over and over in our environment.  We will also studying population dynamics.

Thanks to all who sent supplies to help with the labs.  Please continue to discuss the topics that we are studying with you children.  They love it when something abstract becomes real world.

Recent assignments:  

Electromagnetic spectrum foldable.  Student will describe the different bands in the electromagnetic spectrum, and then they may choose to apply their new knowledge by writing application sentences or by giving three examples in the spectrum.  

Renaissance music cross-word.  Students will read a short passage on how music is made using various Renaissance Era type instruments.  We will talk about how and why the sound vibrates to produce different sounds.

Sound Energy Worksheet.  We will complete a worksheet as we read and discuss sound energy.

Human Ear drawing.  In order to understand how the human ear works and discuss the things that can go wrong with hearing, students will draw the human ear.
