Welcome to China Grove Middle SchoolWelcome to China Grove Middle School Science for 6th graders. New students are encouraged to explore this site to verify that they are utilizing all the resources available to them to help make them successful. This quarter in science we will be building an understanding of geologic cycles, forces, processes, and agents that shape the Lithosphere. There is a link to the textbook on this site. There are many resources on that site for a parent to help a student who is struggling with science. The user name for the text is NCGR605. The password is che6edr4. Please continue to discuss the topics that we are studying with your children. They love it when something abstract becomes real world. A syllabus for third quarter is listed below. There are also some new web sites that are quite interesting. Feel free to explore. 3rd quarter syllabus 1. Describe the processes which form and the uses of earth materials. 2. Analyze soil properties that can be observed and measured to predict soil quality. 3. Evaluate ways in which human activities have affected Earth's pedosphere and the measures taken to control the impact. 4. Conclude that good health environments and organisms require monitoring of the pedosphere. 5. Evaluate the forces that shape the lithosphere. 6. Explain the model for the interior of the Earth. 7. Examine earthquake and volcano patterns. 8. Assess the use of technology and information systems in monitoring the lithosphere.
