7th grade English and Reading
Progress reports will be coming home on Friday, April 20th. Please get these signed and returned as soon as possible. Also, students received a letter about my impending maternity leave on Tuesday, April 17th. Parents, if you have questions or comments regarding the letter, please contact me. My last day is scheduled to be Friday, April 27th. Awards Day will be May 16th! The MCT2 test will be given May 8th, 9th, and 10th. If you are able to volunteer to be a monitor on any or all of those days, PLEASE email me and let me know. The times will be from 7:45 a.m. until approximately 11:30 or 12:00. We are in desperate need of proctors! We have worked our way through two MCT2 practice tests (which should show up as test grades in Active Parent). We are now working on practice test #3 and should finish each next week (April 23rd-24th). As we go over this test, extra credit opportunities are being offered in class. Parents, you very well may see previous test grades suddenly change to higher grades next week. That is because bonus points from this week will be added!!! Test grades should only go UP, not DOWN. Students have received an MCT2 STUDY GUIDE that will be very helpful as we work practice tests and prepare for the real MCT2. Please keep up with your study guide and utilize it! We have completed our Greek/Roman mythology unit! Once we finish MCT2 practice test #3, we will be reading several short stories from the literature book and finishing up some grammar review/practice. By the time I leave for the year, all MCT2 practice tests will have been covered. My substitute will finish up additional last minute practice before the real MCT2, provide additional lessons on grammar review and vocabulary, lead students through short stories (depending on time), and prepare them for final exams. Re: Reward Break. If you lose your break two weeks in a row, you will receive a short form. Three times in a row results in a long form. Please work hard not to get in trouble and lose your card! We will visit the library for the final time this year on Tuesday, May 1st. Words/Phrases We Shouldn’t Ever Use!!! (for essay writing)
