November 15, 2009

At some point this week, our classmoms will be sending home a note regarding our Thanksgiving Basket.  Please look for this note and pay close attention to what is being requested and the date they need it by.  Hopefully everyone will be able to help with this very meaningful task.

All students have selected books to read during the month of November.  They must have the books completed by November 30.  We will then go through the steps of writing a book report.  Most of this will be done as a class, however, depending on how much time we have, final copies may have to be written at home.

Book-It Logs for November have been distributed.  Please encourage your child to take part in this activity.  The November logs are due December 1.

The second cycle starts this week.  We will be going to Music from now until January.

I will begin Touching Safety this week with both 5-20 and 5-21.  We will finish by the end of this week or the beginning of next.

We are so excited about our Afternoon of Thanks.  If a guest has responded that he/she can't come, but at the last minute is able to make it, please join us.  Our poems are now complete.  We will be finalizing our drafts this week.  All poems from those selected should be sent to me by Wednesday, November 18 (any finished early, may be send in before that day).

One interesting note regarding D.A.R.E...Officer Grady was talking to the children this week about marijuana.  He asked them how old you have to be to purchase marijuana.  It took about 17 answers before someone took a guess and said it was illegal.  I find that very interesting, don't you?
