On Tuesday, April 13 the entire 7^th grade will be participating in the mandatory North Carolina Writing Assignment. This is the final of four writing assignments that are now part of the State’s new writing accountability model. The assignment is a timed, ninety minute, writing tasked on a specific-State created prompt. This assignment is considered a benchmark to help your student’s 8^th grade language arts teacher assess their writing skills. Our team has been preparing for the test by learning how to plan, structure, and write an essay properly, as well as, doing extensive grammar review. Your student will take the test at 7:30am Tuesday morning. We encourage all families to follow these important guidelines:

q Please be on time the morning of the test to ensure students are not stressed the morning of such an important task

q Since it takes energy to think, please have your child come to school having had a nourishing breakfast

q Please have them bring two #2 pencils for the test. Mechanical pencils are not acceptable.
