What are we Learning??

Reading: We are looking at many reading strategies to help us learn the reading process to become readers and/or better readers.  Comprehension skills are of high priority.

Please take advantage of the Accelerated Reader program.  This program allows students to read books of interest to them on their level. The more you read the more you learn; the more you learn the more you read. Thank you for all your help.

Writing:  Though I will be serving your child in Reading only, correct spelling of sight words is a priority. Opportunities will arise when writing will become a part of our classroom and I expect only the "best."

Math: Both 4th and 5th grade students are working to master fraction skills. They are expected to write their answers in simplest form. We are especially emphasizing addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers.

We have even learned alternative ways in which to solve addition and subtraction of fractions through the use of fraction bars.  Have your child introduce you to these.

How to get in touch with me:

*You may email me by going to my email at the top of this page.

*You may call me at school. (704-216-0273) After or before school is the best time to reach me or for me to return a phone call, as this will not interfere with my time with the children.

*You may write a note in your child's agenda.
