FIRST GRADE HAPPENINGS

Welcome to the Fall and Spring Happenings in Mrs. Stokes' class. Mrs. Sparger and I have many exciting things planned. From animals to the Lazy 5 Ranch to  Circus World at Horizons. We have an action packed year ahead !

Homework:

Attention Parents! You  can now access your child's homework via my Homework Hotline by calling the school number at (704)279-2154 Ext. 2050.
Monday Night: Read the assigned story and complete the Spelling sheet( refer to Master Spelling List for questions about words)
Advanced Rubric Reading Projects start-Due THursday
Tuesday Night: Math sheet
Wednesday Night: Read the assigned story and write spelling words 3 times each
Thursday Night: Math sheet and study for the Spelling Test
No homework on weekends!
* After reading levels are determined through assessment, some students will be placed on an Individual Assignment Plan for homework instead of the assigned story.
Please keep the Fluency reader in the agenda pocket. I will collect and change them every two weeks. Please work with your child to see how fast they can read it!
* Return Library Books every Friday please!
Please also enter the Reading book story and Library book information on your child's Reading Log which is in their book bag weekly. Eventually they will be able to enter their own reading titles, pages, etc. but now they will need you to do that.
Please practice reading the 100 high frequency words as well as the spelling words assigned each week. See how fast they can go! Soon a fluency reader will be sent home in the agenda to read over and over again until your child can beat 1 minute.
