In-Class:  Finish “Shattered Glass” and discuss the repercussions of falsifying news articles;  Introduce project – Fact Checking a NYT article (handout)

HW:   Begin looking online for a story involving politics – use the NYT only  …why?  Because these articles will be thoroughly fact checked and you will be able to find the sources.  If not, we’ll decide what to do!

9/10/2010:     Locate an article that demonstrates Yellow Journalism or Muckraking.  Review these terms from our textbook.  They are available in abundance on the Internet.  Familiarize yourself with the terms and look at an article in the news - either online or in print.  Read and bring to class to discuss.  DUE ON 9/13.
