Today we finished off earthworms with a challenge crossword.  We then covered Phylum Mollucsa, and started Phylum Arthropoda.  I have covered some of the crayfish notes....we will finish them off next class.

Today we finished with the Earthworm notes, completed a coloring assignment, labelled the parts of the earthworm and started the Annelids worksheet.  For homework, I would like you to finish the Annelids worksheet.

Wed, May 16th

Today we had an Animal Crossword challenge to start class. Congrats to the winners in all 4 classes.  We then took notes on Roundworms (Phylum Nematoda).

The start of Earthworms activity came next.  We so far have notes on External features, feeding and respiration.

Tuedsay, May 15th

Today I returned and reviewed the Plant Tests.  Mark updates will be sent home at the end of the week.

Today we covered a term review, notes on acoelomates, pseudocoelomates and coelomates.  We then filled in Phylum Cnidaria column of our phylum chart.

Monday May 14th

Today we finished with the new vocab and animal development review.

We then started the non-dissection phyla table.  We have notes on Phylum Porifera ( except period 3)

Homework.  Finish the Introduction to animals worksheet.  Both sides on the page.  This needs to be done for next class....

and angiosperms.  We went over parts of the flower and completed a worksheets with the functions of the flower parts.

You need definitions for haploid, diploid, gametophyte, sporophyte, vascular tissue, gamete, spore, seed, xylem and phloem.

Friday, March 29th

Today we covered plant like protists.  Our example species was Euglena.

There were notes on Phylum Euglenophyta, followed by questions and a coloring assignment.

This coloring assignment, table and questions, should be done for next class.

Today we finished the notes on bacteria.  This included notes on nutrition, cell shapes and gram staining.  We finished class with an

assignment on bacteria involving coloring, labelling and questions.

Today we completed the virus review sheet ( on the flip side of the virus bonus crossword), period 2 completed some virus research, period 1 did a virus sentence activity.  All classes need to finish worksheet 19-2 to complete our study of viruses. Both sides should be completed for next class....(HW)

Today we did a reading on the common cold to complete a literacy assignment.  We then reviewed the info from last class on viruses.

We finished of class with a virus crossword.

Monday, March 12th

Today we covered viruses.  We covered terms from text-virus, capsid, bacteriophage, prophage, lytic, lysogenic, retrovirus.  We went over the structure of a virus and the life cycles.

For homework you have to complete the 6 kingdom worksheet.

Some students completed this before the break.

Friday before March break:

I returned the cell respiration/photosynthesis quizzes.  We covered the summary table from last class and marked the shark key.

The rest of class was for working on a Kingdom comparison assignment.  This assignment is due the Tuesday after the break.  If you missed class you will have to get one on the Monday we return to classes.

Today we learned about the 3 domains, Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya.

We filled in a note sheet with info on all 6 kingdoms.  We also completed a table assignment and shark key.

Next class we will finish with classification and possible start viruses.

Today we practiced with a dichotomous key (Pg. 462)and constructed a phylogenetic tree.

Today we started classification with notes on taxonomy, binomial nomenclature, dichotomous keys and phylogenetic trees.  We paracticed with each type of classification tool.  We ended class with an excercise in making a key.
