Second Chance Alternative Learning Environment 

Hello to All, 


Welcome  Back from Spring Break . . . coming out of Turn 3. . . trying to stay in the groove.  Everywhere there are abundant challenges in public education.

Conceptually, locally, we have been challenged to do better.  It is all about striving.  I stand in reverence of a number of the very strong teacher teams at this school. The words "cohesive" and "distinguished" come to mind.  Overall at Erwin, the most distinctive, resounding quality I note among all our faculty & staff - is commitment. 

This past July, I retired from the Army Reserve with 30 years of service.  I know what commitment looks like; I know dedication when I see it.  I am therefore most honored to serve at this school.  

S.C.A.L.E. mantra

 
My aim is to perpetually impress on students referred to the S/C.A.L.E. program that the one thing that each of us can absolutely, positively control is Attitude. And no matter what happens minute to minute; no matter how a day develops, most of the time it is Attitude that will matter most.  
 
My outtake base on nurturing v. acidic guidance given by Dr. Warren Hollar, former Superintendent of Alexander County Schools:
 
There are only two worlds:  the world of the nurturing and the world of the acidic.  God, grant me the grace to live in the right world.
