Welcome to the DOLPHIN TEAM! Mrs. B. Cobb - Math Math blocks 1, 2, and 3 will begin the year reviewing graphs and data collection. We will collect, organize, display, and analyze data through various types of graphs. Histograms and box and whisker plots will be new types of graphs introduced to the students. Math block 4 will begin the year reviewing various algebraic concepts. We will be working with numerical and algebraic expressions, equations and inequalities. Gradesheets - Students have a gradesheet which keeps a daily record of each student's math grades. This gradesheet is to be shared with parents on a regular basis. Parents will be asked to sign gradesheets several times each quarter. Notebooks - Each student has been provided a notebook in which to copy math notes. These notes are to be reviewed nightly to prepare for tests. PODS - Problems of the Day (PODS) are warm-ups to start out each class period. These PODS give the students a chance to investigate various ways to solve math problems. PODS are graded - EASY 100's! Homework - Some form of math homework is assigned nightly, Monday-Thursday. (Occasionally, a short weekend assignment will be necessary.) It should take less than 20 minutes but it is important review. Please check the homework hotline for this information.
