Enochville Elementary School Wise Owls 2nd Grade Rocks!! Miss Jacobs Ms. Ervin  Our theme this year is all about working hard so we can GROW and be all we can be! February News This week is a vocabulary week. Do not worry about how to spell the words, but make sure you study their meaning! After this week, our math facts tests will be REVIEW from the year. Begin studying ALL math facts from the year to be sure you are ready for ANY 10 on Friday's tests. Continue to remind your child that good behavior is expected and necessary for us to all learn. Each day we are learning new and important things. If we are paying attention and not distracting others, we will all do our best! Remember we want to keep an open communication line between home and school to ensure we are doing what is best for each and every child. I want everyone to do their BEST every day! Check over their homework to be sure they are doing their neatest work. ** Please remember to help your child study their math facts each week. They will be timed on their test on Friday! Dates to Remember: Feb. 6 - Group Pictures; 100th Day of School Feb. 9 - Cici's Pizza Night Feb. 14 - Valentine's Day - wear red Feb. 16 - Skate Night at 6:30 HOMEWORK NOTES: ** Reading Log Information: Each night your child needs to read and record a book; each night they are to answer a comprehension question; and they need to find ONE vocabulary word to define for the week. Please help them keep up with this each night and return the log each day! Each night there will be homework to help us learn our spelling words and math facts. Homework is to be turned in each day. The homework assignments for the week will be sent home on Monday, but we will also write down each night's assignment at school. Please remember to sign your child's agenda each night. It is the best way for us to contact you or for you to contact us, and having you sign it is our way of knowing you are monitoring your child's progress. Each week homework assignments, spelling words, and math facts will be posted below on our class website.  Weekly Homework: (assignments are not always the same each week) Monday Night- VOCAB - make a list for each kind of matter (Ex: Solids - pencil, table, cube) MF - write 2 times each Read - record book and answer one question Tuesday Night- VOCAB - choose an object from home; write 5 properties of the object (Ex: red, circle, small) MF - Choose 2 math facts and write a subtraction problem with each. Read - record book and answer one question Wednesday Night- VOCAB - list a few reversible mixtures. List a few irreversible mixtures. MF - choose 4 math facts, draw whole-part-part pictures Read - record book and answer one question Thursday- Study for VOCABULARY and MATH FACTS tests! Read - record a book and answer one question Friday- Tests today!
