My name is Mr. Herring and I will be teaching mathematics and language arts this school year. During the first two periods of each school day, my instruction will take place in a small group setting to ensure intense direct and individualized instruction in the areas of mathematics and language arts. The last two periods of my school day will consist of language arts co-teaching with Mrs. Taylor and mathematics co-teaching with Mrs. Zech. Language Arts We are currently reading Holes by Loius Sachar Each week, we study a new set of vocabulary words from our Word Skills language program. *Grammar, Vocabulary and Writing will be a focus of the entire school year* Mathematics So far this school year we have covered: Data Analysis Measures of Central Tendency Stem-and-Leaf Plots Box and Whisker Plots Number Sense and Algebraic Reasoning Performing operations with rational numbers Algebraic expressions We have recently finished our unit on solving one-step equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
